WOW Fermis, that is something special.  Whenever I read something about the 61 kit there are always creams of horror mixed in there somewhere.  You have really turned that into a precious gem.  Your finishing technique is stunning.  In one of the pics, at 1st glance it had the look of stressed skin.  May have to build a bird and try that out, but I bet it will have its use in armor too. I bow to you

Finished her off this afternoon!!!

 Final fiddly bits were stretched sprue antennas, landing light and wiring on the nose gear. Exaust stains were drybrushed and pastels. Nose art was a spare from a P-51 "pyn-ups" set.

Fermis I like the results of your painting and weathering technique, excellent stuff. I wouldnt know the invasion stripes were brush painted, top notch!!

I really like your weathering methods (just wish I could remember exactly how you do it) as they turn your work into such realistic pieces.  Keep it going brother!

 Got her painted and weathered today. Weathering was my usual, paint, pastel, drybrush, drybrush again.

The walklines were brush painted, as well as the invasion stripes.

I would strongly suggest investing in a SAC metal landing gear set I have a set coming in either Tommorow or Friday along with a Quickboost P-61A .50cal set on top of a P-40C cockpit set. Oh and I ordered a Quickboost P-61engine set today from Sprue Bros.

You will definitely need a metal landing gear set for that beast luckily the SAC sets are plug and play especially after major assembly and painting(got that one from the website).

I thought about those, not for very long though. It's a bit late now anyway, gears are already in place. My last ones gears held up quite well for 7/8 years, and that one had a bit more weight to it. I'm not real gung-ho on spending more money on goodies, than I spend on a kit anyway. Sometimes I'll spend the extra few bucks, but I wanted to full challenge with this one!!! My A/M expense on this is about 5 cents worth of styrene, 18 cents in pennies(weights) and about a quarters wrth of mesh. Not too bad, I'd say!!!

 Thanks for the comps. Man, it's been quite a while!!! I was starting o wonder if you'd move on elsewhere!!!

I scribed with a needle in a pinvice, used the same needle for the rivets as well. Got a coat of grey on her this morning, almost completely lost the rivets, ut they're there, very subtle, just the way they should be!!!

TWO stashed!!!!  I know it'll be at least ten years before I even think about putin one in the stash(to sit for a few years!!!

Amazing work, dude. This is the most extensive WIP thread I've seen of this kit - thank you, because I've got two of these beasts in the stash.

Can I ask what your weapon of choice was for the rescribing job? It looks great.

When I build one of mine, I'm seriously considering vac-ing the canopies so that they'll be just a tad oversized... maybe then they'll fit!

 Moving on, my boom/wing joint is obviously a bit off!!!

I cemented on the left wing, let set, then test fit the right wing with tail. This was the fit!!!  NO GOOD!!! (my own fault)

 So, something had to give somewhere. The tail being the only option.

I removed about a 1/16" and a little bit of sanding and everything fits beautifully.

The gaps at the wing/fuse joint were small enough that a bit of thinnly stretched sprue took care of them.

Just need to mask off the gear bays and engines and she'll be ready for paint!!!!!   WOOOOOHOOOOOOOO!!!!
