lol. I really see it in the pics.. but is anyone else's work area as cluttered as mine ?? can you see all the "stuff" in the pic... lol

I can't keep mine that cluttered, makes eating meals at the same table awkward.. "can you pass the salt? Oh, and the tamiya putty too please...."

You should have a scavenger hunt contest, see how many items people can ID. I see....

1. The Kingfisher of course
2. One luftwaffe guided missile, Henschell-built I think??
3. MM enamels Field Drab, Black and maybe a metalizer?? Looks like a medium blue & a pale gray further back
4. Testors enamel white, yellow and red
5. open Tamiya extra-thin (put a cap on it, quick!)
6. exacto blade, several exacto knives, scalpel
7. metal ruler
8. old paintbrush for weathering
9. a clasic yellow HB pencil, and a white one further back
10. your motorized Kingfisher cowling
11. a pair of "I've been squinting all night" glasses
12. some rolled-up wet-dry sandpaper
13. scrap sprue, for stretching
14. maybe a tube of Testors tube glue, I see a white cap
15. elastic band
16. Cat whiskers (OK< I can't see those, I'm just assuming...)

14. is actaully Testors putty,, I mix it with Tamiya Extra thin for filling..

18. blue handled Xuron pliers

19. various aluminum tubing.. used to scratch build the rocket motor exhaust pipe..

20. a seam....not on the barrel...but still a seam....

Ahhh - I've used Squadron and Tamiya, never used the Testors - how do you like it? Tube-cutter: on my long-term list, especially if I start scratching more stuff. Xuron pliers - that's the pale blue right? Threw me off, mine are orange. Good ol' Maine-made product! The tubing I probably ID'd as more exacto knives. I think I did alright, but I wasn't looking for those seams that the ol' lizard found... rivet-counter!

Great build and detailing job. I have this one in my stash, which has been recently re-released again and wanted to get the Lone Star sets. But what is the difference between the corrected float and the original kit's float?  I can't see a difference from the few pictures I have seen.  Don't know to get the float set too. Just watch Hobby Boss come out with a super detailed one for under $50.

I just may keep the original float since th resin one its just a bit wider, otherwise looks the same. I will get the cowl and interior. Did you have any problems sclosing up the fuse due to the interior resin parts? Thanks for posting the float.

Installing the resin interior is not to bad,, the instructions are very vague and not well drawn, so test fit lots before glueing... the only other issue I had was a bonehead manuveur ,, REMEMBER to install the wing BEFORE closing the fuselage together. I got ahead of myself and glued the fuse together and forget to install  the wing section first as the fuse sides slide over the wing.. U will have to notch the wing to fit the resin interior.

Other than that.. its not bad,, just pay attention.. and test fit...

Just picked up the revell re-pop from the LHS yesterday. I won't be starting it immediately-some other kits are ahead of it on the bench. Not sure if I'll worry about the float or not. I hadn't seen the actual plastic in over 30 years and remember it as being molded in a brighter blue than in p38jl's issue. The stamp on the lower wing says "revell 1977", but that's apparently when they acquired the molds from monogram. The molds are actually 10 or 11 years older than that. There's a review of the kit in the June 1967 issue of Scale Modeller in which they called it the greatest injection molded kit of all time. My oh my have kits come a long way!

the Kingfisher in her catapult now is one I did 7-8 years ago... We set it there to show the size and fill the void on the catapult..

We did have Zero float plane on there to for a while.. we got funny looks from people who knew better .. lol
