Posted by BLURR on Friday, December 9, 2011 8:22 PM

Building Academy's  1/48th F-86F. I have Jaguar resin set with gun bays, flaps and control surfaces (not using the ailerons, they  were both warped !), Eduard P/E set # FE145, True Details wheels and AeroMaster decals # 48-711. Looking for references....Anybody have sites or materials they can recommend ?    Thanks!

Try this:

http://f-86.tripod.com/s.html

This page has a list of the surviving F86's in South Africa (scroll down.)

If you want more, go to the home page, it is a wealth of info about the F86.

The SAAF used F-86F 30's (IIRC) only during Korea with #2 Sqn like this one

SAAF restored F-86 f 30

Here is my 1/48 Academy Sabre with coustom decals

In the top pic it seems the colours is red, but is is actually orange.

After the war all F-86's were returned as pre the lemd/leace agreement.

The SAAF did however get Canadair CL-13B Sabre 6's that were operated in the RSA .

Ceck out this link to the "SAAF Site" all you may want to know

For coustom SAAF/ African decals google this guy www.mavdecals.com
