Yeah, they are. :-)

And yesterday I caught myself thinking about the Eduard limited edition Su-7 BKL sitting in my stash......

Thanks, Dre! T3chDad already sent me some photos, though (just to save you the effort).

In the end, I just did what most others have done and painted the entire area. The problem is that Academy's interpretation of the dispensers isn't quite correct.

Anyway, the heavy lifting is DONE. PHEW.  Now I can move onto the canopy area and then the decals.

Not sure why I continue to torture myself with these Russian birds (my third in a row). Masochism, I guess?

I'll look tonight in the Squadron Walk Around book to see if that area is photographed...

Oooooh, flare dispensers. Right. Duh.

Yeah, that's going to be tough because Academy didn't mold separations between each dispenser. hm. Man, there's got to be a photo somewhere, although a Google search didn't turn up much. :-(

Ah I see those are flairs, I didn't quite know what you meant there. They are separate and the airframe is still blue but the individual flairs are metal, so it's a tricky part to paint, I know the Academy SU-30 gave them as decals, so there's a chance you can get them as decals somewhere.

...on top of the tail boom, series of panels on either side of the hump. See below. Sorry, horrible cropped pic....! In this pic, they seem to be colored individually....

You mean the white panels at the top of the tail?

Thank you! :-)

Last night I started painting some of the detail--white panels, armor plating around gun, etc. It's looking more and more like Blue 56. :-)

SO--question...do any of you guys have a good photo of the dielectric panels on the top of the tail boom? The photos I have don't provide a good view and I'm trying to figure out whether to paint the whole area metallic, or just the individual panels (if that makes any sense). From the builds I've seen online, people seem to have done both. Hm.

Thanks!

We'll see....  at least there's more new blood in the manufacturing end of this hobby.

Hm. Well, guess we'll just have to wait for some kit and/or build reviews.

AMK's website is, shall we say... bland?   Other than two kits listed, they have nothing in the way of information (other than the company was formed in 2012...).

Thanks, guys!

Only one more can to go, and I can call the Major Stuff finished. Phew! After that, canopy, decals, ordnance, landing gear, and finally fiddly bits. So....almost at the home stretch?

Dre, I saw that! Emailed saved for future reference. I'm psyched! Just hope AMK does a better job than Kitty Hawk did with their Foxhound. Don't know anything about the company or the quality of their kits.

Wow, that's looking really tasty, PB.

FWIW: Dragon online has announced a new maker, AMK, that plans on releasing a MiG-31... the main website doesn't show it, but they sent me an email today that clearly shows a future 1/48 MiG-31 Foxhound.   Kit #8803.

Hee! Thanks, T3chDad. Hope the finished product lives up to your expectations. And good luck with your other construction project. ;-)

I'm going to start painting the burner cans today, then I won't get anything done until sometime next week, after the Family Easter Onslaught.

Hope everyone who observes the holiday has a good one!

Your showmanship strategy is a success...I'm rubbing my hands with anticipation. I did end up putting some cement to plastic last night. I might have time to paint and decal the cockpit tonight.

I'm less than half way finished with the fence....there's a deck too, but it's all replacing old wood so I'm only having to replace everything between the fence posts and all the decking and rails. Beer

Lol, excellent! Looking forward to your take on Blue 56.

2,000 screws.....sheesh. So I hope this means you're almost finished with that 400 foot fence??

I probably won't post another update on my build again until she's done (you know, showmanship, audience suspense, etc). I'm hoping maybe a couple more weeks? Just have to get through Easter...when we host most of my family and ALL of my in-laws for dinner. That's about 20 people. Good times?

I started my Trumpeter 1/72 Su-27 Blue 56 build....I opened the box and looked at it.

But seriously, it looks like an easy build compared to the Hasegawa Su-33 along with quality at least as good if not better.  I've read the instructions and am ready to dive in, but my hands hurt from driving 2000 screws in my fence project Sat/Sun (it was a screw gun).  Hopefully I'll be able to make this a quick build after everything I learned on the last one.  I'll keep you posted!

LOL, now THAT is a nail gun. You need a permit for that? ;-)

Thanks for the compliments, guys. I hope to do the top sides of the engines sometime next week, and then the burner cans. And then....I can almost see light at the end of this tunnel (train?).
