Dre, masterful work there, I really like the layout there on the Frogfoot, I was wondering what is that huge silver bomb under the wing of your Frogfoot?
Anyone know where I can get a couple of Kh-58 missiles in 1/48?
Porkbits Anyone know where I can get a couple of Kh-58 missiles in 1/48?
Looks like a "Fru Fru Models" is the most available option...
Hobby Search - Fru Fru Models
1001 Modelkits...
Hannants
I also saw listings ( but out-of-stock) for product from North Star Models???
On the bench: Airfix 1/72 Wildcat; Airfix 1/72 Vampire T11; Airfix 1/72 Fouga Magister
Dean and porkbits, thanks for the comments on my mig-29
now as for whats on my list, now I need to find time to work on them. :-(
On the Bench: 1/72 Ki-67, 1/48 T-38
1/144 AC-130, 1/72 AV-8A Harrier
Falconmod- that is a sharp looking MiG-29- what colors did you use on that?
Porkbits- when it comes to Russian stuff, who really knows? As you said, there doesn't seem to be a set standard.
Dean- according to Trumpeter, that big silver cylinder is a cluster munitions canister.
Thanks, Vance! Man, those sets aren't cheap....
Porkbits, If you're looking to build a Flanker in the future, that link from Vance has some great resin sets and conversions for 1/72 and 1/48 kits. I was quite surprised at the amount of stuff that's out there to make a current version of the Su-27 airframe...
Ah, cool! Thanks for the heads-up. Will check 'em out.
After doing some online research, looks like only the Su-25TK carried the Kh-58. The KT ain't nothin' like the K. Too bad, because the Kh-58 looks mean slung under the wings. Ah, well.
Check this out Porkbits!

Great minds think alike! I spotted this about two hours ago! And much cheaper because it's Stateside.
But too bad the Su-25K doesn't carry the Kh-58. I'd be dinged for inaccuracy. :-(
You know I was thinking if anyone wanted an SU35 if you get the 1/48 su-30mk, and the su27 both from academy, without much effort it could be done, with the spare parts to make an su27ub
I just might do it
Actually if you keep the su 30mk kit as is in the box and just use the extras you will have an su27 ub anyway and use the new parts and make it, I would but I have no decals for it, however it is something that can be done.
Dean, if you haven't checked out that Hobby Search link from Vance, do so as they list a bunch of resin conversion stuff for the smaller scales. All kinds of goodies for the well-heeled consumer.
Pork- I'd be the last person to ding anyone over accuracy issues... especially on anything Russian.
Yeah but I was thinking if you wanted both, at no extra cost it could be done. Resin is usually expensive but I will check it out.
Remember I said that I preferred the Mig-29 to the SU-27? Well I have changed my mind again! I cannot decide, I guess it's a tie with me, the SU-27 is a simply beautiful aircraft, I would not normally apply the word beautiful to a machine as it does not really suit, but in this case it does I think. This is simply an incredible looking aircraft. So I guess I would say it is impossible for me to say which I prefer as I see the Mig-29 sometimes and I think man that's the one! But then I saw this video and it swung the other way! What do you guys prefer? Check this video out and tell me what you think, I suddenly want to do an airshow Flanker!
Porkbits Thanks, Vance! Man, those sets aren't cheap....
The molds were probably based on factory plans smuggled out of Mother Russia by a well-paid informant...
Dre,
I used model master paint,
the nose was FS36118, the light gray was FS36375 and the darker gray I believe was FS36270
Falconmod- thanks!
Dean- I'm still convinced that the Flanker is the more beautiful and graceful aircraft although I am warming up to the MiG-29 more as time passes. There's plenty of airshow Flanker kits out there and even a monster 1/32 decal sheet for an Indian AF Su-30 done up in a showy scheme.
Here's some final pictures of my mig
Nice, falcon! Those burner cans look great.
I like the cockpit more as that's where i'd want to spend my time!
Good work Falcon, that will look good in your collection.
Okay, I managed to get the drop tanks sorted, there are no pylons in the Revell kit so I used them from the Trumpeter kit, I am going to measure and make two holes with a number 11 blade under the wing so the Trumpeter part fits. I like this part of the model as I think sometimes drop tanks can enhance the appearance of an aircraft more than weapons alone. I think besides the tanks I will have it clean as it is a trainer so it could be used a lot with nothing under wing. I have test fitted the canopy and due to the extra detail I added it does not fit exactly but I am tempted to close it anyway as it is crystal clear but much of the detail would not be seen again however it does make the model look even better if it is closed. I am still undecided about that.
Here are some now that the weathering is finally finished, and the landing gear is also complete. Hope you like the pictures!
That's a small stove!
Dean, that MiG looks great- what did you use to get the brownish staining- preshade or pigments? It certainly looks well-used and grubby.
I began a pair of Quickboost resin K-36 seats for my Su-27UB C last night.. fully assembled and base coated in flat black.
falconmod, Dean27, good looking machines gentlemen. :)
When I read "Big Russian jet" first I thought about was Tu-128 "Fiddler"
Agreed--awesome MiG, Dean. Love the weathering.
Thanks guys, the brownish weathering is actually Tamiys rust pigments. I have as you have seen assembled the drop tanks and am going to make new holes under wing for the new pylons and yeah I suppose it is quite a small stove lol, I think my 1/32 Flanker takes up more room lol.
Dean, your weathering looks great, now I feel like I should get another MiG and try it all over again!
On that note this last weekend I went to a show put on by one of our plastic clubs, I got a silver for my MiG-29! :-) I also won a 1/48 SU-7 kit, so now I get to try to find a good paint scheme for that.
