Why not get some masks cut instead? Just had some custom ones done up for my Swiss 109 and a French P-47...B-17 #s in 1/48 probably wouldn't be a difficulty. Probably about the same price as buying a dedicated decal sheet once you tracked one down.

I thought about that but a serial number is one and done, rather just get decals and put em on to be done with it.

Who did the masks for you?

There's a decal sheet with U.S. 45 degree numbers/letters in white for sale at the hobby shops that might work. They come in different sizes on the sheets.

Well with masks you just put the mask down, spray the paint, and you're done. No extra clear coats, no fears or silvering, and they look awesome. Used masks on my 1/32 B-25 tail codes, too (by a mask maker that's inexplicably gone somewhat flaky).

The Messerschmitt masks are by way of Scale Precision Masks.
