Hey Bish... been a while my friend.  But that's my fault.  You're doing a great job on this bird.  My favorite version of the 109.  Best lines of the breed.  probably 2nd only to the 190D-9 for fav German fighter.  keep up the good works.  But, of course, I know you will.

Looks great! Agree with your thoughts on the 'pit, just enough wear and a wee bit of grime - looks like a working bird, used but not abused. That canopy is going to be great !

Shaping up really well, Bish. Im quite interested to see how that PE + acetate canopy works.

Thanks Jay. It was a bit awkward, especially getting the curve right on the rear. I must admit i had not checked out the kit canopy when i bought this, and the kit one is rather nice, thinner than i had expected, but this is really nice and certainly worth the effort. The opening section really tops it off and i'll be sure to get some proper pics of that as it goes together.

Wow , that's amazing work Bish.  I bet bending the PE for the canopy frame was fun and you did it expertly. It looks incredably realistic as well.

So i guess i better get my butt back into gear with this buld. I got the wheel bays painted with RLM 02 and Humbrol leather around the sides which was then dry brushed.

The inside of the radiator flaps also got a coat of 02.

After this i was able to get the wings and tail on and its now starting to look like a plane.

I have also been working on the canopy. When i bought this RB set, i thought it was just a PE frame to go into the kit canopy. But its not, its a complete canopy with PE for the frame and thin acotate sheet for the glass.I spraye dthe frame RLM 66 while on the fret, possably a bad idea as this might flake once i bent the PE.

And guess what, yep, it did. O well, nothing lost as i sprayed this at the same time as the pit. I have got the front and rear pieces fitted, they were a bit awkward but do look nice.

I also got the fuel pipe fitted after useing a piece of clear stretched sprue to replace the plastic piece for the clear section of the pipe.

And thats all for now. Next up will be to add the few last pieces, clean up some seams and get this to the paint booth.

Thanks PJ, ye, i was doing a little checking last night and have been able to find some photo's. Fortunatly the guns are not even painted yet, so no harm done.

LOL Bish! It's good to try a couple of different scales. I find the larger ones easier on my eyes and fingers!.

As far as the offset MG mounts, the E, F and G2-4 had them offset due to the ammo feeding locations between the guns.

I have been informed on the 109 GB that the guns should indeed be as hase intended them, so i will have to look into that, it just did not make sense. Sodon't take that bit for granted just yet.

Its that time of the week again. After the oils had dried, i added some shadow with Flory black wash. I then added all the pre coloured PE, seatbelts and painted in anything that wasn't RLM 66. I must say i am really pleased with the end look, slighly worn but not to much so.

I found the HGW belts to be awkward to put together but they look really nice. My only dissapointment was that they are only coloured on one side. I understand newer sets are coloured on both sides, but with these ones i still have to be careful how i position them.

I also found my first problem with the kit. This is how the cowling MG's are supposed to fit.

And this is how they look from the outside.

Just not right at all. So i have sanded down the raised bits which hold them in place, but going topaint them before fitting.

With the pit done, i got it fitted and the fuselage together.

The wings are just about done. But i am going to paint the wheel wells and radiator flaps before attaching. I'll also leave off the leading edge flaps to paint those areas.

So next up, i will get to the bit i like lest, sanding. But the seams look quite nice so that should not be to much work.

Cheesy, i'll be sure to try and high light any issues I come across. But so far all seems good, the only issue being with some PE that I had to move as it was in the way of the pit floor when I dry fitted.

Joe, I am sure I read some where that there is a law that says anyone who builds German aircraft has to do at least one of Marseilles and Hartmann's aircraft before their time is up.

Very nice.  One of Marseille's F birds is on my short list as well.  I look forward to your work.
