I really enjoy building a kit at 1:32 scale.  I also have been impressed with how Trumpeter does a great job on assembling kits.  So far, I've been window shopping on eBay and I have to say for now that it will be a Trumpeter kit.

Really nice job Toshi. If you decide on a Stuka for your next project, which kit are you considering? Once again, excellent build.

Another nice quick build Toshi.  It does look interesting.  You are getting quite a collection of visible models eh?

Thank you sir.  Yes, so far, a total of three.  Monogram B-17G, Trumpeter Me262, and this Dauntless.

Where's the cowling and the front windscreen?

I like what I'm seeing, my friend. But it doesn't look finished yet.

Stuka or 109..... tough choice as I'm partial to both. If you haven't built a 109 yet, I'd say its high past time you did. They are a kind of right of passage lol. Besides, you need something to fight your Mustangs!

Part of the cowling was non-visible, and the front windscreen attached to this non-visible cowling part.  Trust me, it just didn't look right.  If anything, it looked really weird.

I just might consider the 109.  Thanks for the visit!

Here is the completed Trumpeter SBD Dauntless Visible Edition.  It took me a little longer to finish this kit due to the holidays and several doctor appointments, but I was able to get back on track with this build.

For my next build, I'm contemplating on either a Stuka or a 109.  Maybe both?  I just dont know right now.  Until then, please view the completed project below.

M. Brindos

Okay, that looks pretty cool. Are you going for that Pacific Faded Effect like you did on the 1/48 build?

I haven't looked in to that as of yet but, that sounds like an ideal procedure.  Thanks for the tip!

1943Mike

Toshi,

Don't misunderstand me, I have, in my paint drawer, Tamiya, ModelMaster, Vallejo Air (WWII German), LifeColor, PolyScale, and a few others. My preference, assuming no other brand is significantly more accurate for the model I'm building, is always Tamiya. However I'll use what my research has told me works best - in acrylics.

As to airbrushes...... I started with a set of 3 Chinese made A/B's. Two of them broke after my having used them less than twice each. I keep the third one buried in my A/B drawer. My go to A/B for the last three years has been Badger's 105 Patriot. I also have the Badger 155 Anthem for covering large areas. Both are very good A/B's as far as I'm concerned. One of my Christmas presents to myself is an Iwata HP-C Plus. I haven't tried it yet but I'm planning on using it on my next kit which I've finally decided is not going to be the Corsair (HobbyBoss 1/48) that I was thinking about but, instead, the 1/48 Tamiya Fock Wulf 190 F-8. I figure it'll give me some practice in painting German WWII camo as well as going together relatively easily - I hope.

Mike

P.S. I think once one has a decent A/B that he/she has used and with which one has become familiar as well as competant/skillfull the only reason to move to any other A/B would be out of sheer curiousity (I'm guilty) Wink

The HP-C Plus is an excellent Iwata AB!  Thank you for the tip as well as the read and reply!

M. Brindos

Nicely done again, Toshi. One question; Do you plan on adding the markings to the clear side, or do you plan to leave it completely blank so the interior is shown in all of its glory?

Thank you MBrindos.  As for the clear side, I will not apply decals.  Thanks for the visit.
