Hey Mike.  I hate to hear about the paint blues brother. For future reference brake fluid on a moistened rag will get all the paint out and cleans up with water. Love the build and the progress man. Take care, Joe

Seriously?! Does it just wipe off, or do you have to soak it for a while first? This could have saved me a lot of time lol. Although my scibing is turning out quite well....  dangit.

It takes a little rubbing but yes , especially if it's acrylic-it wipes off ...or it has for me.

That would've definitely helped out here. After a primer spray last night however, I can say that my rescribing adventure is working out quite well. Besides, I think I need the practice. I've got a couple of Monovell kits that I plan on adding some scribing to and I'm not fully confident in my abilities yet. The Stuka doesn't look bad, but I got a little too heavy handed with a couple of those panel lines and it shows.

So this build is up next for completion in my que. I just hope I can tame those overly thick Academy decals as well as I did on the SPaD.  ...without repainting them lol.

I'm sure you'll do great with the cals Mike.

Thanks, Mustang. At the moment they are the furthest from my mind. I really wish I had started with the brake fluid paint removal. This build is getting a little messy with the rescibing and sanding proceedures. Plus its been around 85+ degrees around here which makes some of the paints I use stay a bit tacky. This hasn't been fun and I wish I had an "Undo" feature with this build.

Right now I'm on the edge of just trashing this one and moving on to another. I'm still on the side of the fence for continuing, but its close. Things at least are starting to look a little better with this one.

Checking and rechecking. Sanding, and sanding a little more. This build has gotten UGLY.

Well here I am, hours after a complete rescribe and new paint. I'm thinking this build is going to get weathered up something fierce.





The radiators are tucked pretty far in there, but they can be seen if you look really hard in there lol.



Well.... this will do for now I suppose. Have to get to bed so I can go to work and earn more model money lol.

Thanks, Mustang! The Sky Grey and the Flat Earth were masked and air brushed, but the rest of it so far has been hand painting. Its rolling along pretty good now.

This mornings progress has been applied to the prop and spinner. Again, this was done by hand, and a steady hand it has taken lol.

Wow, what a steady hand!!!!!  I've never seen this done before.  I thought spinners were done by masking.  What great technique!

Normally it would be easier to use a mask, but I had trouble with the spinner masking on the Stuka and just decided to fall back on my classic skill set lol.

You have no idea how many times I had to correct that line lol. Fortunately there is a demarkation line running around the spinner so all I had to do was carefully follow the line.

The nerve wracking part was then painting the prop blades black without getting it on the spinner  :/  I should have done the black first.

Decals are now on. They've given me a little trouble, but not much. They seem to go on just fine with a little persuasion lol.



I'm saving the stencils for later since at least one of them has to go over one of the national insignias.

Looks fantastic!  Can't wait to see the final reveal.

Sorry, Toshi. You'll have to wait a good while before that happens. I'm putting this one away before I bin it for good. I need to remove all of the paint and start over again. The layers and build-up of paint is just too much and is causing problems all over the place.

I'm so frustrated that I'm putting the brakes on this. I'll wait till I have the patience to redo all of this. Glad I didn't put the stencils on it yet. I still have two more paint schemes I can go with later.

So this one is getting put away. I've had enough.

Well you've waited long enough I suppose. Aside from a few very small details to tidy up later, such as an antenna wire, this one is pretty much finished. I had some troubles removing the masking tape as it had been sealed under a LOT of layers of paint. That made things difficult around the clear pieces. All except for the windscreen which I just added last and hand painted the frames in.

I found a roundabout way to get the link info. So here it goes lol.

I started by repairing the base paint scheme. All of that paint settled down after sitting for so long. So I figured I get on with it today. I decided to weather it heavily as I was watching some documentaries about the RAAF and these planes fought from the dirt and got roughed up pretty well. So that's what I went for.

It looks a lot better in the collection now that its not derelict anymore.

I did put a lot of detail into the cockpit, but the rest of it is just kit parts. Mustang's build makes this one look like second rate crud, lol.

Farmboy, Brandon, thanks guys! After I gave up on this one months ago I didn't think I would ever find the will to finish it. It was just ruined in my eyes. Too many mistakes layered over each other with the paint job.

Yesterday morning I finally just figured, "what the heck. It can't get any worse."

So I just started where I left off. After some internal debate on wether or not to just slapit together, or actually put a little effort into it I decided to just go for it and weather it as I knew it should be. The underside is still too clean for the constant dirt runways these craft flew from, but I'm not woried about it.

Maybe I'll fix that later, or maybe I won't.

Lessons have definitely been learned with this one. For instance, when I was weathering the paint I use what I thought was white oil paint. It didn't want to spread out and blend correctly and it was confusing. Turns out it was White Watercolor Paint. Once I figured that out I was able to blend it with a damp paintbrush and all was well. In fact it worked in a way I didn't expect. Much like a wash. Something I will remember for another build at another time for sure.  :)

So its now sitting next to my Hellcat with a giant, looming Stuka sitting menacingly beside it lol.

Thanks for the kudos fellas. This may not be my best work, but it at least turned out worth showing lol.

Even with the issues you pointed out, this build came out great!

Thanks, Max. I don't know how much longer my eyes will hold out, or my nerves will hold, but I'm going to use it while I still have it lol. I've always been fascinated by things in minature lol.
