It's a lot of fun watching this bird come together Toshi. Just the idea of putting together the frame as you described near the beginning of this thread gave me a slight headache but the work you've produced so far is a delight to view.

I've seen this model built before where half of it was painted and the other half left clear. Not so sure you want to do that, but the execution was neat.

It does look like its coming together really well, my friend. All of that interior detail is almost overwhelming in its complexity.

We did a couple nights in Columbus last summer for the IPMS Nats. I was quite impressed with the town and should you end up there I can't see how you would be disappointed, Toshi. I'll bet the weather is even a tad bit better down there.

From personal experience, I very much understand your attraction to a Japan-town and Japanese population.

You model is looking very good.

 

 

You are correct once again, the winters down south are no way near the type of snow fall accumulation is concerned in north east Ohio.  I just miss the food more than anything.  Thanks for the visit!

To my fellow forum members,

The HO 229 is almost at the completed stage at this point.  I was thinking on leaving just the wing spars, without adding the exterior skin.  It gives the HO 229 a sense of uniqueness.  I'll have more pics to show when I've completed this build.  Thank you forum members for the read and reply.

Good luck if you go though the move, I've never been to Ohio but it seems like a nice place to live. Funny I think I've only met a handful of Japanese-Americans in my life. Around here the Asian-Americans I know are probably about 50% Chinese ancestry, 30% Korean, and 20% various Mongolian, Thai, Laosian, Cambodian etc. 

 

Your portrayal of Asian Americans is absolutely accurate percentile wise.  People like me being a 4th generation Japanese American are far and few between.  Add to that, that my grandson will be the sixth generation, is a miracle at best.  Thank you so much for this dialogue, I've come to learn and appreciate this.  Before my accident, I was a go go kind of guy.  I now know that every once in awhile, you truly need to stop and smell the roses!

Wow, now that's cool! I have the 1/48th Dragon 229 but it's nothing like that detail-wise. Amazing kit and fantastic job building her Toshi. 

BTW: Somehow I missed you post on living in Hawaii, all I know about it is watching too much Magnum P.I. I wanted to move there when younger but didn't figure I could find a boss who'd supply me with a Ferrari as a company car... 

 

TV shows like Magnum PI and Hawaii 5-0, is just a glamorization of Hawaii. As for a boss supplying you with a Ferrari?  I'd need more than that to be able to move back home.  LOL!

My daughter just went for a interview in Columbus, Ohio for a comany called Zulilly.  There's talks of us moving to Columbus.  Zulilly is looking for a in house photographer.  

I'd personally would love to move to Columbus as they actually have a Japantown.  As for Cleveland, the Asian center is more Chinese specific.  On the extreme side of things, I told Mrs. Toshi I want to move to either Taiwan, Vietnam, or Cambodia.  The cost of living there is mind boggling as well as the American dollar is very strong in these countries.  

Southeast Asia seems idyllic at best.  Either that or somewhere like South America.  Rio is of great interest to me.  Unlike 20 years ago, you can now buy everything within a touch of your fingers on sites like eBay and Amazon.  So in reality, you can live anywhere you want and have consumables delivered to you.  You gotta love modern technology.

It is a strange disservice in a good way that I'm unable to AB the HO 229.  I am so used to AB the completed aircraft that this makes me feel like I'm forgetting something.  I do say in a good way, due to the fact that the frame/spars will be visible, this also includes the Jumo 004 turbo jet engines. 

This is the most unusual kit I've ever built.  So far, I can highly recommend this kit.  I normally would have settled for the 1:32 series but due to the extremely high cost, I had to order the 1:48.  What's really great about the way Zoukei Mura engineered the 1:48 kit is that none of the 1:32 details have been left off.  The 1:48 is an exact replica of the 1:32.  Details and all! I wish more model companies would follow suit.  

I have decided to stop at this point of the build.  Please view the 229 below.

Man Toshi that is cool!I notice that all 3 wheels are on the ground.Good job in keeping the airframe aligned!

 

Now that that has passed in my favor, the rest of the build is just attaching the clear skin.  Thank you for the read and reply.

Yes you know how most normal kits have a 2 piece fuselage?Well this one has multiple sub assemblies that makes alignment kind of a night mare!

Yeah Toshi.if you really want to punish yourself,build the 1/72 ICM TB-3.REally fun build....NOT!
