Many thanks for looking in.

The yellow line is just styrene rod with electrical tape for the padding.

Ok here I go again.

Kind of a jump in progress this time around.  Although it did seem to be more of one step forward followed by a dozen backwards.

First up, the interior got its paint.  Gloss Grey followed by Alclad Chrome.  I then went to work on the pit.  First the color is Model Master RLM 02 Enamel.  Some scratched parts for a number of reasons and then a shot of them together.

And then something I rarely do.  Figures.  I cleaned up and then sprayed Flat Black.

I shall, for the moment, call them Hans and Franz.  Not sure they will end up in the final edition as the poses do not seem to fit very well with the interior.

All comments, critiques, and criticism are encouraged.

Before I can really get into the detailing on the interior of the fuselage I need to prep the interior of the fuselage a bit.

The tail is framed, this may not be accurate but it does match up with the rivets on the exterior.  The stringers are also in.  Still a touch more to do but nearly ready.

Sorry just one picture this time around.

All comments, critiques, and criticism are encouraged.

It has been a while

How about I bring this back to the bench.

First up is to take a good look at the kit parts.  The interior looks pretty dang good actually.

I am thinking I will go with this for the most part.  There is a bit I want to cut off to open it up a bit and I do want to add just a bit.

More soon I hope.  This is back and ready to be worked on.

All comments, critiques, and criticism are encouraged.

The prep work begins.

The first step is to decide where to make the cuts.  What do I want to show on this.  i sat and stared at the kit for several hours over several days before I felt comfortable enough to mark out the sections with a sharpie.  Next is some actual fabrication.  Using sections of a large styrene sign I rough cut and then fine tuned the bulkheads from the rear of the cockpit to the tail.

My next step will be to overcome that fear and actually cut into the plastic to open up the sections.

Not much yet but all comments, critiques, and criticism are encouraged.

Joe

There goes the butcher marking the choice cuts. Lol.

Definitely looking forward to this.

Be brave and bold, Joe! What you are about to do is something you know most of us will not attempt. You've got our attention and a lot of support here. We're watching [preverbial nod]. Questions can be answered.  :)

Remember its not a race, and this is your build. You've got this.

Yea what he said. This is going to be fun to watch.  Be one with the styrene Joe.

Especially if you add some piping and conduits. At that scale there is so much room for adding scratch built goodness. :D

M. Brindos

I remember seeing this kit in the hobby shop when I was a kid. The box alone was almost as tall as I was then.

Geez, I feel old now! LOL I remember this kit at Orange Blossom Hobbies in Miami in the 70's. I believe it has some really good details specially in the pit and the engine. I don't know how accurate it is but it will make an impressive display.

Sorry, Joe. Didn't mean that you have to rush it. This is the kind of project that takes time and patience. I just meant that I'm looking forward to seeing your progress. I love this plane and 1/24 is gigantic.

I remember seeing this kit in the hobby shop when I was a kid. The box alone was almost as tall as I was then. That was an unobtainable dream for me then and still too far out of reach these days.

Take your time Joe.
