I've seen the Academy 1/72 kits at Hobby Lobby in the past but hesitated in purchasing them.  It was Mrs. Toshi that persuaded me to try and build aircraft in a smaller scale.  I'm glad she did, I really enjoyed the build and the scale in which it represents.  This genre greatly intrigues me.

Besides biscuits and gravy, try hot dogs and scrambled eggs for breakfast.  Now that's one hell of a meal!  The reason I bring this up is that's what's on the breakfast menu in the morning for Mrs. Toshi and I.  Feldgrau23, thank you so much for your support especially the read and replies!  I so greatly enjoy our conversations!

I don't know how exciting it will be lol. I just liked how yours turned out and I'd like one as well.

I did finally find a couple of F6F-5 Blue Angels kits that are likely still out there. One Hasagawa and an old Lindberg kit. I'm pretty sure I remember building a Monogram version in 1/48, but the last time I checked I couldn't find even one reference for it.

Some day I wil run across another Blue Angels Hellcat though. I have some fond memories of that kit.  :)

 

I did not know there were F6F-5 Blue Angels!  Pretty cool.  I'll look that up now.  Enjoy your Labor Day!

Hi, Toshi! I decided to pick up this kit for later. Your work on it made me want one for my shelf as well. After debating over the options, I'm also going to go with the -5 fully loaded just like yours. Its just a pleasent looking model when finished.

I didn't see any Dark Sea Blue at HL so I'm going with Vallejo 70.899 Dark Prussian Blue overall. It's a very pretty dark blue color that I think will come fairly close. Kind of reminds me of the old Monogram kit blue it was molded in.

I also went by Gabi's Olympic Cards and Comics (Local comic store that specializes in miniatures and games) and found some Vallejo Model Air 71.017 Russian Green and model wash 76.523 European Dust for my T-90. They provide a vast selection of all sorts of paints, even if they don't have a shelf of models to choose from. Lots of miniatures and Warhammer products though. Good store and very popular around this area.

Anyways, I've already got some small changes in plan to make the kit a little more fun to build, but mostly I'm looking forward to painting this little beauty up just like you did. A fully loaded F6F-5 from the USS Hornet!

You were right about the details provided with this kit. They are quite acceptable. The fit of the parts is good as well. I think I will enjoy this build and I look forward to the finish.  :)

Fortunatly i have the whole Black Adder on box set which includes the Special editions. British Humour at its best. My other half is an Eastenders fan but i don't watch it myslef. Its fuuny, because she is from manchester, but she watches Eastenders but not Corination Street, go figure.

It does get a bit confuseing. We have jam, which is a fruit preserve. We have jelly, which is the same as your jell-o and then we have anotehr jelly which is served as a condiment with certain meats.

This is the very same kit that I bought for my grandson, but due to time constraints and youthful impatience, I wasn't able to paint it and decal it like I wanted. It was the same thing with his 1/72 F-14A. I bought the 1/48 F-14(Revell) and I'm going to show him what a completely painted, decaled and fully loaded F-14 looks like.

I like me biscuits either way, with butter and honey or just as B&G.  We have a couple of chain eateries out here, Shari's and Black Bear, that do a decent biscuit and gravy setup.  Nothing better and more filling than 3-4 biscuits and country gravy.

Wife used to do them when we camped out 4 wheeling or hunting, over an open fire.....what a way to start the day.  Whole different taste than off a stove.

 

Funny thing about biscuits, butter and honey....the three of them never work out even, always have some of two out of the three left over.

Thanks Goldhammer, I'd just assumed jelly and jam were pretty much different region's names for the same thing. Aka soda vs. pop or cake icing vs. frosting (though I've been told icing and frosting aren't the same thing either...) 

Over on this side of the pond, jelly is usually the juice, strained out fron the pulp and then jellied.  Jam usually has chunks of the fruit still in it, and ends up being a little thicker.
