That's looking really good. Nicely painted cockpit. Regarding folding wings, if you're planning on doing it as a land based Marine version (e.g. VMF-111) and you want to keep it authentic, maybe reconsider. They wouldn't really ever fold the wings because space wasn't the issue it was on carriers and folding would only slow down getting the planes turned around. If you want to do folded, carrier based Navy would probably be a little more accurate. Just a thought. cheers -J

So far, the indications I get is that this is a superb kit with no issues or concerns. Besides the kit being made by Tamiya, I also am enamoured by it being a Corsair. My most favorite WWII aircraft of all time! I still have to work on my skill in making seat belts from scratch. I used some Testors tape to make these seat belts. Other than this fact, everything else is OOB. Thank you for your visit onto my F4U thread.

So far, just painting it and dry fitting the parts fits to a T! I love the Corsair easpecially if it's a Tamiya kit. I've always wanted to build this kit!

Just keep building kits! I love to follow your builds and, since the F4U is my favorite aircraft of any time period, I'm certainly going to have fun watching your WIP.

I'm sure you'll make do wherever you move to as far as modeling space is concerned. All the best in that regard Toshi.

I will do my best to continue in building my beloved kits. As for this Corsair build we will both enjoy this moment as we are both the worlds greatest fans of the F4U! LOL!

The only Tamiya kit I've built is my flak 88, but I really want to get into their plane kits cause the quality was just SO much better than what I'm used to building. Looking forward to seeing this one!

If I may be so bold, in my humble opinion, the Tamiya 1/32 kit of the Corsair, Mustang, Spitfire, Zero, and the most recent entry the Mosquito is an industry standard. I've made every 1/32 kit mentioned above except the Mosquito. I'm saving my money for that one!

Let me just say that the 1/32 kits I built were superb in every way. They are ridiculously awesome. That doesn't mean the rest of their kits have no base for excellence, it's quite the other way. Tamiya makes some of the best WWII aircraft I've ever built.

It's just that the 1/32 kits mentioned above are their premium offers. They are pricey but well worth it! Matter of fact, this 1/48 Corsair kit almost mirrors the much pricier 1/32 Corsair! It mimics some of the details as well as the assembly process. It's just amazing!

I hope in the future you get a chance on working on a Tamiya kit. I'd love to see your WIP on that. I promise you it will be so much fun! Good luck my friend!

Here is the start of the Tamiya Corsair kit. This evening my son and my daughter in law came over with our grandson for dinner. Dinner was grandmamas meatloaf. Basically a can of Campells beef vegetable soup, two eggs, bread, salt, pepper, and garlic powder.

While it baked in the oven, my son visited with me to my den/workbench. He asked what was I working on and or finished. First off, I told him I just finished a tank. I showed him the photo shots and he was blown away. By the way, my photographer daughter gave me a high five for doing such a good job with the Leopard photo shoot.

Second, I showed him my current project of which is the Tamiya 1/48 F4U-1A Corsair. He looked around the room and said; "Don't you have enough Corsairs already"? LOL! I told him; "You can never have enough Corsairs"! LOL!

Here is the start of the F4U project.

Yes, I agree! I've made the Tamiya 1/32 Birdcage F4U-1 Corsair and the parts similarities are amazing. It's basically the detail of the 1/32 in a 1/48 kit. Tamiya did a great job on this one! I can highly recommend it!

To my fellow forum members,

It has come to my attention in that there are many of you with much smaller spaces to work on than I. So now, Mrs. Toshi and I will try and figure out how to reset my work space in our smaller apartment.

Until that time of which is October 30, 2016, our moving day, Mrs. Toshi and I will be slowly packing and storing our boxes for the move. On my downtime I'll be building this Corsair.

I've always wanted to build this particular Corsair for about a year now. Since its in my hands, I'll definately have fun and will do the best I can until it's time to break down the den/bench! Arghh!!!

P.S. I want to thank everyone for their support and belief in me that I'm capable of continueing modeling. At one point, I was going to hang up the ole Tamiya Extra Thin Cement! LOL! But with your stories and giving me the self confidence needed, I feel a renewed sense of being! Thank you my fellow forum members!
