Looking good! I'll have to give that paint a try! Now that your putting decals on I've come to realize I settled on the other version of this kit.  I figure it's about time I challenge myself with my painting, and learn to also have some paitence with it, lol.  I am of course using the P-39's as my test subjects first before tackling the much, much bigger C-54.

Yes, it's Model Master Acrylic #4677 Aluminum and Model Master Enamel #1790 Chrome Silver.  I also tried Vallejo Metal Color #77.707 Acrylic.  It's the Alclad Lacquer paints that I here so much about on here.  I got give that a try.

The other verison has a tri-color scheme.  That one is very colorful.  Your P-39 Airacobra looks great.  Thank you Keyda81 for your time and visit to my WIP!

To my fellow forum members,

Here I have the left side of the fuselage decal completed.  I next will work on right side, top, and bottom.

To my fellow forum members,

Before heading to bed, I decided to try and see how the decals would hold up.  As you can see, the decals are just great.  I really like using the Testors Wet Look Clear #1834.  It not only enhances NMF but allows you to literally ice skate the decals on.  It's a superb product although the packaging suggest a hot rod motif and that this type of item is for car model builders.  I must agree that that is what Testors had marketed this product as.  But I must say that as for any NMF would benefit from this particular product.

One of my biggest fears on this project was the Z looking red thunderbolt decal.  I was able to slide the decal on with no issues nor concerns.  I used a product from Testors called Testors Decal Set #8804 of which is widely available at Hobby lobby and Michaels.  I have yet to use items like Alclad and Micro-sol products.  I feel in the near future in that I'll be using these products.

Thank you so much forum members for supporting my WIP thread.  I'm so happy  that!

To my fellow forum members,

It's January 2nd 5:18 pm est.  In regards to the C-54D Skymaster, I just got done spraying Testors Wet Look Clear Coat #1834 outside on the balcony porch.  Yes, in North East Ohio in January.  For some strange reason, the temps here are in the high forties, low fifties!

But guess what, tomorrow we drop down to the low twenties and possibly hitting the teens!  So I took advantage of this warm opportunity yes, this is warm to us North East Ohioan's to go outside and spray the Skymaster, then bring the C-54D inside to allow the lacquer coat to cure.  Then comes the adhesion of decals.

Once I'm done with the decals, I need to add the door's in it's open position, glue on the final parts, seal in the decals, then I can whip out the EZ-Line.  Overall, I did find the instructions very difficult on this build at least for me having TBI Traumatic Brain Injury.  I had to have Mrs. Toshi help me with some of the pages.  The issue with the instructions is not of any fault on Revell's part but this falls on me.  It taught me that I still have a long way to go on the recovery side of things.  With that being said, I've felt that on the opposite side of the spectrum, thank's to my fellow forum members, I've come a long way in recovery by building these kits to help me get thing's like cognition and fine motor skills into play.

The entire kit went together very well.  All parts fit and finish was spot on.  Just make sure the tolerance of the part to glue is accurate to the best of your abilities, there is no such thing as wiggle room on this kit.  Tolerance is tight.  But that's a good thing.  Seams were minimal at best, dry fitting is a must.  Yes, that's how tight it is.  And I mean that in a good way, measure twice, cut once.  In my case, measure three times, cut once!  LOL!

Thank you for everything my fellow forum members for following my WIP, I wish you all a great successful year!

Toshi, that is looking fabulous! I will echo the statement of this being your finest work yet!

This is great work!!

Keyda, I'm having that very same issue with Pb. I've been using it for a very long time and I've never had this problem before. Very frustrating!! You're not alone.

I'm extremely honored yet very humbled in your praise to my abilities to bring this WIP to fruition.  If I may be so bold to say so, it's esteemed colegues like you that continuously pushes me to strive for a certain level of achievement in my builds.  I feel at times that I fall short of this and that the great reviews I receive are not earned.  I guess that's why as modelers, we are a breed that is in general so hard on ourselves and builds.

I'm amazed at the amount of detail afforded in this kit.  Hence the high parts count.  Just assembling the landing gear and the landing gear bay doors took the greater part of a day and evening as well.  I worked straight into the end of Monday Night Football.  I just knew the Greenbay Packers would win this divisional game, although the Detroit Lions did a fantastic job in giving the Packers a run for there money!

Thank you sir for your continued vigilance in this WIP.  I so enjoy your visits to my threads!

Thats looking AWESOME Toshi!!!

Thank you sir!  It took me the greater part of a day as I had to first build up the landing gear which took a while.  Now I know why there is such a high parts count on this kit.  There are lots and lots of tiny parts that intricately go into every step of each section.  And the landing gear and doors are no exception to this, matter of fact they are plague ridden to this fact!  LOL!  Thank you sir for this opportunity, by you showing great interest in my WIP.  I look forward to your review and comments in regards to my build thread.  Thank you again sir!

Nearing the finish line!  Watching your build really makes me want to start on mine, but it will have to hold off for a few months until it's nice enough to paint outside.  I started working on an Eduard P-39 Airacobra kit.  It came with PE parts, masking, and 2 kits to build 2 complete aircraft.  I was attempting to start a WIP but photobucket is being a pain in the rear and keeps booting me back to the log in screen.  Guess it's time to find a different image hosting sight.

I can't wait to see what the C-54 is going to look like once the props are on, lol.

It's slowly but surely getting there.  Yes, going outside for me also to do painting is crazy!  LOL!  It's 27 degrees and snowing so that will not be an option.  I do that in the spring (If it's not too cold and raining) and summer.  Other than that I use a portable paint booth that folds up into a little mini suit case.  It has it's own vent and everything.

I've never made an Eduard kit, I heard they are great kits.  Especially the Profi Packs.  I would like to build a 109 Eduard Profi pack.  I've yet to find an issue with Photobucket, I'm sorry that you're having issues currently.

I've painted the props but it's still a far cry from installing them on.  There are so many steps to apply in the way of tiny little parts that it borders on the insane!  LOL!  Until I complete my C-54D Skymaster, I want to personally thank you for following my build, it brings me great joy to converse with FSM Forum members like you and on the plus side I learn a lot!  Keep me up to date with your P-39 Airacobra build!  You've peaked my interest.  Thank you for the visit on my threads!

To my fellow forum members,

Happy New Year!

This is what was done for the for the first day of 2017.  It took some time but that's ok for me.  It's a first for me to add brake lines.

Next up are details in the landing gear area.  Then on to the next step!  Thank you forum members  for visiting my threads and giving me the support and belief in me.

Happy New Year to you and your family as well!  I did open it up, and had a look see.  A bit overwhelming at first, lol.  So many options with this one.  I noticed you even have the option of extending the flaps with this kit, I've never seen that before.  I like the fact that it has such detailed painting instructions as well.  It's definitely a more involved kit than I'm used to, but I am glad that it is.  Seems the B-17 I got for Christmas is the along the same lines as well, and it was my MIL that got me the models for Christmas.  Hubby refused to get me anything modeling related, lol.  He said he wasn't going to feed that addiction!

I'm doing the same version as you are, when I get to it anyway, lol.  I have to stick to smaller stuff that will fit in my homemade spray booth for now.

Yes, I was blown away by the parts and the detail included with each part.  I do agree with you that the instructions are awesome in paint and assembly process.  If the B-17 is the Revell 1/48 kit, it does not come close to the detail and parts count of the C-54D.  Still it's a lovely kit to assemble.  I did the Visible B-17G, I blew through with the interior of the B-17G with a complete photo etch set by Eduard.  It's in the forum here as a WIP.  You can search for it and utilize it as a template for your B-17G build.  Only if you have the Revell 1/48 kit.  I'd be very honored if you did.

The version I chose that you will build as well is a historic aircraft.  Being that it provided consumables and supplies for the Berlin Airlift.  You see, my dad was stationed in Weisbaden Germany where he flew as a passenger in the C-54D.  He used to tell me stories of these flights, hence I'm building this kit in memory and honor to him.  Thank you so much Keyda81 for this wonderful conversation.  I'm humbled that you would follow and support my C-54D WIP.  I also look forward to your WIP threads.  By the way, what are you working on now?  Or are you going to work on something now?  I'd love to see it if that was the case as a WIP thread here.

Coming along nicely!  Looks like I'm in for a lot of window masking, lol.  I usually just paint on some Elmer's glue or similar with a small brush, then peel it off after painting.

Happy New Years to you and your family Keyda81.  Yes, there's a lot of little airline type of windows to mask and there are three really teeny tiny ones that need great attention to detail.  Keep an eye on those.

Have you opened your kit yet?  Do you know which C-54D you'll be making? I'm excited to see which one you'll choose to build!  This is a really great kit!  If you have any questions LMK, and you can PM me and I'll do my best to help you to the best of my abilities.  Keyda81, thank you so much for your support in my threads.  I greatly appreciate it!
