1/48 Tamiya F-4UA1 Complete

That's not a model. It's a photoshopped pic. In reality that is awesome. The weathering and fading is right on.

That there is one godsmacking awesome Corsair Salty! You have definitely pulled off some absolutely fabulous painting and weathering. Being as I am one of the Corsair's number one fans, I can greatly appreciate the the detail and effect you have achieved. I'm 100% behind you concerning gear bay colors. There is simply nothing definitive nor consistent. I'm currently building Tamiya's 1/72 1D and I decided on yellow chromate on the bay with dark sea blue on the inside of the bay doors. Just another example of what I've seen in reference photos. Thank you for sharing your outstanding Corsair.

By the way, I wouldn't mind getting a bit more detail on your weathering techniques. Always up for improving my skills.

Wow, that is the best looking Corsair I think I have ever seen.  It pains me to make such a statement to a gentleman with that script A logo  but you sir have knocked this one out of the park, walk-off grand slam!  She looks like she's been sitting in the South Pacific sun and salt air and taking off from dusty airfields.  Magnificent work.

Hey now that's nice work! Great paint work and weathering. The faded patch work looks spot on for a pacific theater bird. My only suggestions are to flat spot the tires just a bit to show a feel of weight and I also wonder about the true color of the gear bays. Were they really interior green?

 

Great suggestion on the tires Nathan, and I agree. As far as the color of the wheel bay, i've seen white bays, zinc chromate bays, NMF bays, and interior green bays so who knows. I'm partial to the zinc chromate bay because the Corsair come off the assembly line primed this color. You have asked the $65,000 question my friend.
