Greg

You're WIP threads are always a treat, and your new addiction scares me as I'm on the fence about building something larger than 1:48 next. Oh oh.

Indeed...be careful...lol. Well, I was going to forego the WIP and just post finished pics, but I figured some may want to tag along. I'm having a hard time going back to 1/48 now.  My P-40 and Hellcat were a struggle.....lol. I have to start a 1/48 Fw 190 A-8 shortly, so it will be weird going back and forth.

Man thats looking great! Whats the round hole in front of the office for?

Thanks guys.

That hole is where the fuel the cover will go.  I'll add that after seam work as it will be easier.

Glad you're doing this as a WIP, Joe.

This is one of the best corsair kits on the market.  Definately a nice start!  I'll be following.

Here I go on the second Corsair.  I continue my trend of doing Honcho's rides, this time in the markings of VF-17 Tommy Blackburn's "Big Hog". Blackburn was the CO of VF-17 and finished the war with 11 victories.

I procured Eagle Cal decals for Blackburn's markings (top subject).  I'll probably source Montex masks to paint the main markings though.  I won't go too much into the kit.  We all know it's stunning and is partially responsible for my new addiction to 1/32 scale.  My new expensive addiction.  Pure modeling bliss.

I will try to avoid mistakes I made on the last one, particularly finding another way to attach the wings and adding the engine and cowl later in the build.  Another tidbit I have since learned was that to avoid damage, the flaps on Corsairs were never left down when parked, so I will install them up this time.  I think I'm going to to compensate by using the drop tank this time.

I started with the pit.  Still the best I've yet to see in any scale.  It made me giggle out loud.  I used Gunze Interior Green.  This time I crunched up the thick sheet metal seatbelts to make them more fabric-like.  This took awhile.  I must say my new post dullcoat drybrush with silver has made a world of difference.

Everything fits like a glove.....

Fuselage closed without issue.

I hope to have this one together quickly...
