The tint is a good idea.  Thank you.

And thank you all for the kind words.

I'm about to decal the shark's mouth, and I'm nervous.  Here goes.

Beautiful work so far Chris. I love this kit, as well as their new P-51 and Hurricane. All easily the best in this scale. I need to have another go at this one soon. Good luck with the shark nose.

The decals have turned out well.  They applied pretty easily.  I don't see any silvering.  I'm just going to let it sit overnight, and I'll see how things look in the morning.

Thank you Lawdog, Kev, Jay Jay and Toshi.

It's moving right along.  Most of today was about applying, drying, and removing wash.  It's a fun part for me.

There are still a few little things left, such as; landing gear doors, antenna aerial, and weathering in the cockpit frame.  Aerials are hard to see in reference pictures.  I'm putting it down until tomorrow.  I have to get to work.  Indifferent

Does this kit have both US and British pitot tubes?

WIP:  Monogram 1/72 B-26 (Snaptite) as 73rd BS B-26, 40-1408, torpedo bomber attempt on Ryujo

Monogram 1/72 B-26 (Snaptite) as 22nd BG B-26, 7-Mile Drome, New Guinea

Minicraft 1/72 B-24D as LB-30, AL-613, "Tough Boy", 28th Composite Group

I believe it does.

20181029_093253 by Christopher Ridle, on Flickr

I believe the one labeled A47 was the British specified one.  In the kit, it's for the AVG bird.  I believe those aircraft were originally intended for British use.

The one labeled A48 is for the US Army Air Corps bird.

Airfix does have a boxing of this kit with British markings.

And thank you for reminding me to fit the pitot tube.  I had forgotten.  I was about to post completed pictures.

Very nicely done.  You have given mea bar to shoot for when I get to the one on the shelf.  Going to do it as Welsh's at Pearl.

I look forward to seeing your P-40 builds Goldhammer and Damouav.  The George Welsh bird has some interesting history, and I considered going with that scheme.  However, I needed a Shark mouth on my shelf.  Also, I already have some Olive Drab over Neutral Grey.  I'm happy with how this one turned out.  It looks a bit old and worn, but it's not quite a jalopy.  Honestly, the only thing I'll do differently in the future will be to avoid the clay wash over a matte surface.

Well done, a fantastic build all round. A great example for the collection.

You nailed the weathering.

Thank you Gentlemen,

It certainly was a fun kit.  It took a little filling and sanding here and there, but nothing dramatic.  I recommend it.  With the amount of foreign sales, there are a whole lot of marking possibilities.

This is what I did to make my zero pilot nervous.

Beautiful work! I can almost see the panic on that Zero pilot! Your correct about the British pitot tube as these were diverted from England.

Your beautiful work inspired to build a flying tiger as well. Unfortunately another kind of tiger is preventing me from starting it.
