Mopar Madness

He painted those yellow and black unit stripes like a champ!

I try to teach him to be paitient.  Lol!  By distracting him into watching cartoons I’m succeeding in that way.  Then we slowly go back to the kit.  I do know, this works, that’s how I got to paint his yellow and black unit colors.  What’s cool is that he’s a great motivator.  Thank you sir for this  visit, it means a great deal to the both of us!

WOW !!!

That's one heck of a job you two did ! I didn't even know that kit came with air brake's.

Exellent choice on the paint scheme, I always have trouble, when working with Yellow ( I would have just painted it  overall Grey )

You and Ezra have made one "colorfull" bird !

Can't wait to see what Ezra build's next.

,

Thank you so very much littletimmy. Ezra is a great motivator.  The yellow is very difficult in of itself.  What we both do is to paint a part(s), and take a short brake.  We usually watch bubble guppies and or paw patrol.

Then after approximately 30 Minutes, we return to the build.  There are times that details are a challeng.  That’s where I step in.

Thank you very much littletimmy,

Thank you FSM Forum Members,

Your support in Ezra’s and I build means so much to us.  Little by little, with each step, Ezra has been improving along the way.  I want to take this time out to thank Tim Pressnell for gifting Ezra and I Testors 1/72 Corsair x2 and this Heller 1/72 F-86 Sabre kit!

I just got done loading this and the Corsair build into the the Digital Readers Gallery.  I truly hope at least one of the aircraft makes it into the Digital Readers Gallery!  Our next project is a Academy 1/72 USN F-4J “VF-84 Jolly Rogers”.  Once again thank you FSM Forum Members for your support!

Tosh

The paint scheme was some what difficult for Ezra as it invoked small detail painting.  So from this point on, I was solo, plus it was past his bedtime.  LOL!

Taping and organizing Tamiya tape is difficult for Ezra so I took over from this point on.

Glad to see you and Ezra are getting some use out of that Saber.

( What ???  Your not letting Ezra try to Bare metal Foil that thing ???)

Thank you littletimmy!  Ezra is always excited in building and painting by hand and or utilizing an AB.  Again he’s two and a half.  Yet his enthusiasm is viral!  Lol!  As for bare metal foil, I’m not ready for a technique like that.  Lol!  Thank you sir for joining Ezra and I build, it means very much to us.

The Drifter

Looking it great Toshi! Your little partner is doing a fabulous job. Heck, before you know it he will be producing some high quality builds on his own.

The Drifter, thank you very much for the kind words and support as well.  It’s greatly appreciated!  My grandson Ezra is doing a fantastic job on the Sabre.  He’s very intuitive and tries to mimic and copy what I’m doing.  I spoke with Mrs. Toshi and we decided to purchase a Snap Tite kit for Ezra from Hobby Lobby.

At least I don’t have to be worried about the fumes from the Tamiya Extra Thin Cement and the Tamiya Putty White.  What‘s really great is that I have a 50/50 percent of Enamel and Acrylic paints.  So his issue with paint is zero.

The only thing about Ezra is his attention deficit is always short.  What I do is to take my iPad play a TV show (Paw Patrol, Spider Man, and Blaze etc.). After he gets restless, I’ll turn on the iPad and sits down on the den floor and watches his show.  And he’ll always comes back to his modeling.  Once again, thank you for your time and interest in Ezra and I kit build (Sabre).

Your friend Toshi & Ezra

Pleasures mine Toshi, and I don't know too many young boys that don't have attention deficit issues. Heck their young boys and they want to be into everything at one time LOL.

That is so true!  He gets into everything lol.  Yet he’s such a good boy with a streak of a rascal. But that’s great as he learns things at that moment in time.

To my fellow FSM Forum Members,

Thank you for following along on our builds.  As you can see I’ve hand painted the Sabre.  I’m probably getting ready for next step.  Ezra loves AB.  If anything, he can AB The Academy 1/72 USN F4J “VF-84 Jolly Rogers“.

I am so excited in building this kit and allowed my self to primer and paint.  I’m not concerned finishing this kit as Ezra has 3 other kits to keep him busy.

Your friend Ezra & Toshi

P.S. As you can see, I utilized MM 4680 Gray primer.  I’m going to brush this kit as it’s too cold to AB outside.

I took the liberty of adding some small detail work on the Sabre without Ezra.  I don’t think nor feel that his ability to assemble really small parts, he’s not just ready yet.  I do know in fact that he keeps building with Papa aka: Toshi he will be able to tackle detailed areas.

As you can see, I’ve taped up gaps and certain flaws with Tamiya tape.  With that in mind, I’ve utilized Tamiya White Lacquer Putty.  Due to the lacquer in the Putty I won’t and don’t want to let Ezra inhale the fumes.  So I went ahead and prepped the Sabre as so.

Well, Ezra went home yesterday.  He didn’t want to leave and cried.  So I told him to be patient as we will see him this weekend and can continue the Sabre build.  I really don’t know where the front landing went as he accidentally broke it off.  Lol!  I’ll scratch build one.

Other than that, everything went together just fine as you can see below.  I’ll be taking over the sanding and putty work.  When Ezra returns, he can AB the Sabre.

What an excellent choice for a buddy build!

Yes it is.  The timing was perfect.  I was going to get a snap tight model to start, I’m glad I didn’t as Ezra Is moving along well.  After some cartoons, we work on the kit, then it’s nappy time for him.

Lucky man, Toshi! My nearest grandkids live in Augusta, GA, which is about 2.5 hours from me. The granddaughter is 8 now, and her brother is almost 3. They do get to visit us quite often (maybe once a month), but not a s often as I'd like. I have three grandsons in the Seattle area (their mom is in the USAF, stationed at Joint Base Lewis-McChord), and their ages are 10, 5, and 3 (the three-year-old I haven't had a chance to see personally yet). I also have a 3-month-old granddaughter in Carrollton, GA, which is about 5.5 hours from here. So glad that you get to see yours three times a week. That's AWESOME!!

rangerj

I get to enjoy time with a 22 year old grandson, a 12 year old grand daughter and a 14 month old grandson. I find adventures for them with me and if they are not careful they might learn something. Enjoy it Tosh, it is wonderful.

As for the Heller F-86, it is a nice kit and an easy build. I did the Mig Mad Marine. This was flown by John Glen on his second tourrangerj in Korea. He was TDY (temporary duty) with the USAF, thus the F86. His first tour was in F9F-5 Panthers and Ted Williams was his wing man. The "Mig Mad Marine" logo was not his idea but that of his ground crew. When he would return from a mission he would comment there were not enough Migs up there today.

Oh Wow rangerj, you have been blessed many times over.  Thank you sir for everything.  It’s now approximately 6:14 am est.  Sunday morning.  I can’t wait for Ezra to be dropped off so we can have some fun!  Every time he‘s here, there is no stopping of his energy.  It is Ezra that always wants to build a plane with me.  Lol!

He mimics my every move so I have to be very careful of what I say or do.  Lol!  Ezra is Mrs. Toshi’s pride and joy.  Than you once again!
