Mighty fine sir, mighty fine. Now I know for sure I want to build airfix 72nd scale version of this kit. P-40's are also one of my favorite airplanes, and I really like the looks of this version. Great stuff mate!

Thank you Willy

Another masterful rendition, Joe!  I seem to have a soft spot for this particular aircraft.

Don't know why...

GAF

Thanks bud, me too, particularly this early variant. I'm going to be doing a Pearl Harbor version soon as well.

Fantastic! I'm always drawn to your fading and shading technique. You have the perfect eye so it's just perfect after the gloss and matt coats. Excellent desert scheme too.

Thank bud

Great result, fantastic technique, what else could we expect from, dare I say a "master builder"....

Look forward to the next build. Thanks again for taking the time to post, we're all better off for it.

Done!  To recap, it's the relatively new tooled P-40B in the British Tomahawk Mk. II boxing.  I built Neville Duke's 112 Squadron GA-F AK 402. from November of 1941.  Duke was the most successful allied pilot in the Mediterranean theater with 27 kills.

The Airfix kit is quite good considering what was available before.  It's by far the best on 1/48.  The goofy nose panel assembly was a headscratcher, but nothing that couldn't be fixed.  I wasn't crazy about the wheels either.  Next time I'll get some resin wheels.  I added Master wing 30 cals and a PE seatbelt.  Main markings were Montex and subject specific markings, to include the sharkmouth, were by Kit's world. These were fantastic.

My next Airfix P-40 will be in Pearl Harbor markings.
