Thats what counts ...

They went on OK, looked good untill I put the satin clearcoat over it all. Then the decals had a look almost like that of silvering. I had to spray gloss clearcoat over it all to get the same texture over paint and decals, then the satin went on well. First time I had to do this, even with poor thick tamiya decals the matt/satin clearcoat never had this effect. but all done now so I am happy with it.

I built the same Academy F4 when it first came out and the decals were a pleasure to work with. I used Solvaset to melt them down and look painted on. As I remember they were Cartograph decals and of excellent quality.
Too many models to build, not enough time in a lifetime!!
stunning job, weathering is spot on ..

After more filling, sanding and scribing I decided that its enough and I will have to live with this result.More work may cause more damage.

As for the exhaust area, this is the base metals - alclad alluminium, alclad pale burnt iron and model master bufing steel. I will use oils to further weather it after painting is complete as it is top uniform now.

The stabs I am happy with, I didnt want a sharp harsh diference in pannels but at the right angle it works.

Give yourself credit. I have seen some of your builds and they are very good. Once in a while this crap happens and could be a goof of the molds or one on our side as something so simple as missing a part from properly fiting which throws off the alignment of others.
That‘s odd, I built two of these and can’t recall having a fit issue. I also don’t recall using any putty on either one.
I got the basic airframe assembled. The intakes are going to give me hassles I see it now, the front and rear sections do not line up and I hve to either sand the front down or fill up and sand the rer section to match front, eiterway I will loose rivet and pannel detail so I will have to see what section will rescribe easiest.

The bottom joints also had gaps that I needed to fill with sprue. Hopefully this will result in a nice smooth joint after loads of sanding.
I cant figure out how all the other guys are building this model so easly without anny issues.....must be me that are causing issues then by trying to get the seams to perfect.
Good to hear, a mate did the same kit and reported that his decals dint conform well or react to solution , maybe he got a dud sheet.
Just to let you know the kit decals are amazing and of EXCELLENT quality. They go down very well and look like paint and not decals. I used Solvaset as an added punch to melt them down into every surface detail.
kit supplies onlt one decal option, CAG of sundowners on Corral sea
What are the final markings going to be?

I added a small sinker to be on the safe side but they sit ok without.
