Howdy. Here is the 1/48 scale Tamiya F-51D. Finished with Tamiya AS-12, and the kit decals. Just a neat OOB fun shake and bake build. Hope you like.

Good looking build, what's the difference between a WW2 P-51D and a Korean War P-51D? Just markings?

Normally a tank modeler and I know the difference between a Desert Storm M1A1 and a Operation Iraqi Freedom M1A1.

Rob,

Yes.  The only difference is the markings and ordinance.  The Mustang was recalled from Guard units Stateside and sent to Korea, not as a fighter, but as a ground attack aircraft.  It's fifty cals, ability to carry a decent amount of ordinance, loiter time, and ability to operate off unimproved airfields gave it a distinct advantage over the jets of the day.  This was especially helpful at the beginning of the war when most the jets had to fly from bases in Japan.
