My favorite single Mustang of all time, and you did it superbly! Seemingly effortless perfection that sets the bar (way too high) for all of us. BeerBeerBeer

Thanks Greg. Lil' Margaret is no slouch either.

Sorry to hear about the swimming pool in your basement, Joe. But it seems you've survived and the production facility is back in full swing!

Nicely done in the build. Just a typical, home run Joe build. You really do make it look easy, but we all know it's not. Seems like Don (or more likely his crew chief!) was really proud of this plane! It sure shines in the photos!

A Helldiver in the queue? If you can find it, a member here named Chukw did a massive amount of work to detail a 1/48 Pro-Modeler kit, and documented the whole thing. Might be something to look at to give you some inspiration!

Thanks Max. Yep the Accurate miniatures helldiver. It will be a first for me. I hope your doing well.

Another beauty, Joe. YesYesYes

Count me in on that seminar with John, and it sure looks like you and the AK products are getting along well. Bit of an understatement

Side note, on the basement flood, my stepdaughter was just yesterday again gently prodding me to finish at least a portion of my man cave, and I forgot to include flooding in my barrage of defensive chatter. Been there so many times.

Thanks Greg. Indeed, I was in panic mode. Almost 6 inches of water. Fortunately I was smart enough to store my stash up on shelves.

Another outstanding build, Joe.  Get on that '47 now!

Thanks! I can't, gotta do a Ki-61, Bf109 G-4, and a Hell Diver first.

I'm going with done here.  To recap, it's the Tamiya P-51B in Don Gentile's  "Shangra La" makings.  Gentile pranged this machine showing off after returning from a mission in April of '44. That day he downed 3 Fw 190s increasing his score to 19.  He finished the war with just shy of 20 downed and 6 damaged.  I added color PE in the pit and Ultracast wheels.  Decals were Kitsworld and the main markings were painted on with Montex masks.   I plumbed the brake lines and drop tanks with fine wire. I also replaced the guns with brass tubing.  The kit is typical 90's Tamiya and goes together without issue. I personally think it's better than their D kit.  Paints were AK Real Colors as was the weathering with their Paneliners washes

I have decals for his P-47 Donny Boy too. It will happen eventually as well.

I contempated adding exhaust stains, then I found this pic and I saw that his plane did not seem to have them, at least ot yet.  I decided not to add them (or the shrouded exhausts).  I now see why this subject is modeled so often as it's well documented with a lot of color photos.

As usual,  fantastic work.  I would pay for a two day hands on seminar.   Consistently brilliant work.

Thanks John.  Your kind words are appreciated.

Wow! That is gorgeous! Thanks for the tip on replacing the details after sanding with plastic card. It seems like that area is a problem for all P-51 kits. Beautiful job.

Thanks..........and your welcome.

Another nice paint job . I bought some tamiya semi gloss clear last week. I'm going to try that in stead of gloss clear ,maybe decals go on easier? Food for thought anyway Toast

Thanks.  I'm not sure how semi-gloss would work.  It's worth a shot.

Profilic still doesn't quite cut it. Great build. I've got this one on my list as well. I'm a fan of how they molded the back windows as well. It's always in the little things. You'll have to share you secret to all the bench time you seem to get with me one day. =]

Thanks.....no secret, just determination!.....lol.
