Sweet!

Really like the look of those exhaust manifolds - what paint(s) did you use to create that look of a slight start of corrosion? I've had some luck airbrushing a light spray of Tamiya Red-Brown XF-64 over flat black.
Thanks for sharing your excellent build in progress, looking forward to seeing this big boy come together!
Your killing it. This is great work for sure.
Fantastic craftsmanship !
The Merlin engines are now complete. I painted the left one since it will be displayed and will button up the right one. Tamiya and MRP paints were used as well as a Flory wash and Testors flat lacquer. It's all OOB except the ignition wiring. Tamiya did a great job with the detail on these. The wings are next.
Here are the engine photos. I used a good color reference photo for the exhaust. I'll do some more weathering when it's integrated into to the rest of wing/nacelle.
The wheel wells are integrated into each nacelle behind the engine.
The wings are next.

Buckeye2 That looks amazing! Very well done! Was curious what the painted yellow circles on the bulkheads are for? Mike

Thanks Mike! Much appreciated. I'm not 100% sure about the yellow circles on the bulkheads, but I saw a credible explanation somewhere that they indicate magnetic steel armor plate, which could impact compass readings. No idea if it's accurate.

mrmike Late to the party, but that is just outstanding paint & "weathering"! Sets the bar pretty high for the rest of us...looking forward to the next WIP.

Aggieman That's fantastic work on the Mossie pit. I'd love to get this big girl (and one day I quite likely will), but having built Airfix's even bigger 1/24 Mossie several years ago, I have to wonder where I would put another large scale Mosquito.

wpwar11 You nailed it! The cockpit components have a nice tight paint division and the weathering is just the right amount.

God, Family, Models...
At the plate: 1/48 Airfix Bf109 & 1/35 Tamiya Famo
On deck: Who knows!
The front office is now complete. Tamiya has done a wonderful job on this. I built it completely OOB without extra wiring, etc. but did add a few Barracuda placards to spice things up.
The IP is really lights out fantastic. Tamiya used the same technique as the Spitfire and Mustang with decals behind the clear lenses but this time they have thin PE panels instead of plastic, which makes the lenses thinner and more realistic.
Of course the fit is 100% perfect. No issues at all.
I used MRP, Tamiya and Mission models paints and had to build and paint in various assemblies to accommodate the detail painting, decals, clear parts, and the build. I used a flory wash, some pigments for dirt, a little sponge with steel paint for wear/chipping and some colored pencils for some detail.
Enjoy the photos. The Merlin engines are next.
