any 1/72 XP-47H conversions?
Posted by Jabbe on Sunday, August 21, 2005 9:04 PM
Hi everyone,

I'm a thunderbolt lover, and upon finishing my most recent (pics to come soon), I've decided to start 2 more. I'm wanting to do something a little different, and I found pictures of the XP-47H. I'd like to build one, but I can't find a conversion kit (1/72 scale). I tried Squadron Mail Order, but they don't have any. Does anyone know of a conversion maker? Attatched are some photos.

I can't say for sure but I seem to recall one of the short run manufacturers like MPM or one of the vacform makers doing this one. Good luck with your search.Smile [:)]

As said by the others, MPM has a xp-47H. I have it in my stash. A a pretty basic short run kit, one of mpm earlier efforts. It has some flash, and a bit of a rough surface. Maybe you could use a Revell p-47 for spare parts, such as the gear.

I was hoping there was a conversion kit (so I could use an Academy P-47 for everything but the nose), but i looks like I'll have to get a whole kit. It has to be in 1/72 since that's the only scale I model.

I looked it up Sarge,

Turns out to be the XP-72. I read a review of a 1/48 scale kit, but I can't find anything in 1/72.

Hey! Just found one: http://www.internetmodeler.com/1999/april/aviation/xp-72.htm

I think it's best to get 2 kits, the mpm and a donor kit for the details. Such as gear, cockpit etc.
I don't know how much short run experience you have but the mpm kit is pretty crude! A donor kit can make it a much easier build.
