Spitfire Mk.Vb Cockpit?
Posted by Anonymous on Tuesday, November 8, 2005 12:12 PM
Hi,

I'm just right off to start my new build, a 1/72nd scaled Spitfire Mk.Vb from SMER Czech kit company... I'm still not sure about the cockpitk, as I have very few sources...

Anyone can help, please?
Thanks!

Hi TM,

yep, I'm seeking the detailed pictures... Well, depending on your description, I'm fine so far... It is painted interior green, the instrument pnale is black, and so is the head rest...

Never mind, I've found something now! So... TALLY HO!

Cheers,
Pisis

Basic cockpit colour is Interior Grey-green (Humbrol #78), with instrument panel, throttle quadrant, u/c lever and various switchery in black.  The seat was a reddish-brown phenolic resin, with a leather backrest - normally in black or very dark green.  Sutton harness was pale cream originally, but got pretty grubby.  The headrest was usually removed from 1941 onwards, as it tended to foul the parachuite harness in an emergency.  The seat pan did NOT have a cushion - it's where the pilot's parachute pack fitted.
