......! Fantastic job on the Me262, Pix! Im not a big fan of WW2 subjects, and certainly not the 262, but I really liked this one. Thanks for re-posting the images.

I didnt notice this was an old thread. I was mostly offline for about 2-3 months and saw this thread only recently. Great work! Thumbs Up [tup]

Yes. its the same mold, with different options. Squadron has the TriMaster single seat nightfighter on sale for $30. Just ordered one yesterday. It has white metal & photoetch. Just take your time, be careful, dryfit EVERYTHING, and the kit's shortcomings can be overcome. I really like this kit.

I understand DML is rereleasing the 1/48th Me262 B-1a/ U1. I'm thinking
about getting one. Would the same problem areas apply to this kit as well?Thanks.

The 262 could have been in the air earlier than it was, if not for the 1941 ban on new offensive weapons development. Mr. H thought he already had what he needed, and didn't see a reason for anything new. Its scary to think what would have happened, had someone been able to convince him of the need for new weapons.

This appears to be an outstanding build. I am painting my Tamiya version right now. Got a silver undercoat on, followed by hellbleu all over. Tonite, the dark green light green camo. This is an awesome looking plane. Good thing it wasn't in the sky in 40-42.

Thanks & you're welcome, fuzzy ! The DML kit is a tricky build, but if you go slowly & use basic skills, it can look as good as any of the "shake & bake" kits out there. I also love their FW 190A kits. They're tricky also, but I feel that they are a finer kit than the Tamiyas. I've done 8 or 9 DMLs & 6 Tamiyas, and the Tamiyas are definately "beefier." Both are good kits, though.

Do I have an answer ? In two parts.
a. The Green is RLM 82
b. The RV band is for KG(J) 6. According to Eagle Cals sheet, "Originally thought to be an Industrie Schutz Schwarm (Factory Protection Flight) with green/blue checkered RV band. New information indicates this machine was operated by KG(J) 6 utilizing their assigned colors of red/black checkered design.

Nope. The pic isn't modified in any way. It matches the kit on my monitor (NEC MultiSync 75, Adobe gamma correction).
Usually this doesn't happen unless the colors are saturated. If the red color doesn't look smooth, your monitor's color saturation may be set high.

I do have a question? In two parts

b. The black and red checker band on the fuslage

When viewing the colors they look as if they are fluorescent. Did you modify the picture? Or do I need to adjust my colors on the computer?

Thanks, Michaelvk. My airbrush also used to have a mind of its own. Just takes practice, & knowing what paint/mix/pressure works for you. Just don't let it "leave the nest" when it matures !

From what I understand, the late war camo was soft-edged. When I painted, the only parts that received masks were the gun bay, wheel wells, & the canopy. I always mask & glue my canopies (minus opening section) to the fuselage before painting.
Since the canopy is hinged & the gunbay doors don't need glue, putting this one in flight will probably be easy. At the beginning of the year, I'm going to do a "digital group build over at Scale Hobby. We will probably use pics of this model.
I'm a "creature of habit" when it comes to painting camo. I thin to almost 50:50, and spray slowly at about 5-7 psi.

Basically all the camo is soft edge then right? I know you had mentioned that you did free hand but did you at any point use a mask of some sort.
Great job so whats the setting of this Swallow? Before I forget what ratio of piant to thinner did you use?
