WIP 1/72 Suchoi S-37 Berkut **finished**

Looks like a lotta work.  Nice so far !

This build is proving to be though. It's fighting me all the way.

I had some problems with the priming. And when I tried to remove the primer with laquer thinner it dissolved some of the plastic surface... I have primed and sanded the kit to solve the surface damage.

Painting also when bad: first white, mask, then black. When I removed the mask some of the white came off Had to do some touch ups.

Future did ok but some of the decal silverd anyway.

She's an awesome build nevertheless, and I'm Mc'lovin it! Sorr to hear about the issues though, but I'm sure looking forward to the finished results!

I wonder if they make that kit in 1/48 scale...

The fit was good, I have used little putty on the kit.

As said above, there are several accuracy issues. Most notably the nose (should have "beak") and the landing gear (is fully extened as if in flight) Less notable the cockpit (little detail), panel lines (they are not right) and the jet exhaust.

I chose to fix the gear and the nose, the rest is less visible.

Here are some pics of the Berkut. Due to mistakes I made this was a though build and the end result is not that good.

You are right Remco, this is absolutely horrible!! You should immediately proceed to box this one up and send it to me!!!! I will undertake the burden of alleviating you of this "model".

But really, this one looks awesome! Was this a real aircraft?? It looks so "Firefox'ish". Great work!!!

She's a really awesome build! I don't see any silvering at all with the matte finish, and with my experince with the U-2R, that's not an easy task while getting that matte finish. How many coats of dullcote did you use?

I seriously like the paintjob I can't see any problems you had with it.

I will take some pics of the whole aircraft. Maybe it is also nice to place it next to my X-29 to show the size difference (the Berkut is huge!)

As to the build looking good, in my book it scores a 5.5 out of 10.

Things that are bad:

- white, peeled up with the masking, the touch-up's are rough

- canopy, some paint bleeded under the masking

- got a finger print on the back (near the white antenna), tried to remove it, damaged the the finish (those are the strange swirls)

- there is some silvering in the decals, even tough I used laquer thinner as a setting solution (not something I normaly do)

Those are not faults of the kit. The only bad part of the kit is the nose  (shape is wrong) and the landing gear (way to fragile)

Maybe it looks okay because I took good pictures

As to the mat finish, it is one layer of Future, flattend with Tamiya Base.

Nice work on a very unusual bird.  It turned out well despite the difficulties you had with the building.
