I think it looks great! I do like the Shangi La!

I might suggest two things to try, you will find them simple yet have a big impact on the way your model looks.

1. Take a sharpened toothpick and trace along the canopy frames...you will easily scratch off the excess paint leaving smooth lines and not scratching the "glass".

2. I little "sludge wash" in the wheel, landing gear and bay doors will really make the details pop out. Swanny has a great "how to" at his site: www.swannysmodels.com

You'll find yourself assicted to these methods pretty quick!

I like it too!

There's something abt the prop thats bothering, but since I can't put my finger on it, who cares?

Build another Mustang, and quick. You'll enjoy watching your skills sharpen, which by the way are really good.

Well done!  The previous suggestions are what I would recommend.  Thanks for sharing the pics, and I look forward to seeing your next build! Thumbs Up [tup]

Looks like a good start and one of my favorite markings for a Mustang. Keep building and may I suggest browsing some web sights with some great tips to improve your next build like

http://www.swannysmodels.com/

It is full of great tips and most of them are not hard to master. You will find yourself building some awesome builds very quickly. Keep on building!

Nice job! Ditto the above, I learned a ton from Swammy's.

It may be the picture, but the wheels look a tad shiny? Did you use flat or gloss black? Do a forum search, you will find many different ideas of how to paint wheels.

I just spoke with my brother last night (the family Mustang nut) about that plane, and the P-51D that replaced it after Don was removed from the fighter group. Has anybody here seen a picture of the second plane? Brother says he's got a picture of the one you modeled with the broken airframe.

Looks good! I'm also working on a model of Shangri-La in 1/144 scale.

there was two. One was the "D" model, and was supposed to have a similar paint scheme. Thought it'd be a nice project to build both of them sometime in the distant future.

The D version is what he flew while back in America on war bond drives.
