Real G

PS  Bsyamato - I'll get back into the GB as soon as I can get work and the yard under control.  Both are crazy right now.  I'm being sent to do stuff like parking lot striping, interior painting, and electrical demolition, but normally I drive a computer in a nice clean office.  (An no, we are not in the construction business - it's all part of a scheme to save the company money!)  The tree in the front yard thinks it's some kind of perpetual garbage maker, producing blossoms like an out of control popcorn machine.  I need a bigger rake.  A chainsaw is not an option, unfortunately.

Me busy too friend, hope to get some vacancy in august and to bring again the two kit on the workbench Paradise

... fortunately for me (as you i think) live near to sea in a good touristic zone, just two km to the sea Big Smile

Dave The Chef

That's very true and thanks Neal.

Well I have cut some plastic for this one - not going to do anything special but just give it a decent paint job. Here's the bits cut off and awaiting some sanding.

I completely forgot about this GB. I've nearly finished a HG Gelgoog i believe would have fit into this. A couple 1/144 Feddie tanks as well. I still have a Zaku that came with the ground war set i could build but really wanted to get that Gouf as seen in pics above or start a Sazabi, but i assume a Sazabi wouldn't fit into this GB.

Dave,

You have mighty good taste there!  Of course I'm just saying that because they are all U.C. stuff, not the ah, "not U.C." stuff.  (I promised myself not to say the "F" word here - don't want to start any wars with the Wing/G/Turn A etc fans.  But all of your kit choices are great!  Go Byg Zam!

I have to get off my lazy butt and move on my G.B.s too.  I have a Gog, although not part of the G.B., which has been decaled.  I damaged the Zeon insignia while handling the model, so I will need to touch it up with some paint before I clear coat it and start the weathering process.  I'm suppoesd to be working on the HGUC Dom, but I figured that I should push the Gog out of the way first.

Real G, I liked wing because I started on that series, and as far as I know (I never watched G or X) its the first to do the whole 'super invincible mech' version of Gundam, as opposed to every series afterward (see seed, 00, etc etc)  But I dont think anyone will disagree with the statement UC is better then any other gundam universe.

and you do have good tastes on your kits, I want that corefighter bad.

Smeagol,

Yeah, I understand that many anime fans in the US started off on whatever was released here on TV.  Harmony Gold's "Robotech" was a bastardization of three unrelated series, but it gave mainstream America a taste of the new wave of "real robot" anime.  I got lucky and had a head start, as the stores here sold Macross and other anime kits before Robotech hit the US.  A friend got ahold of a model catalog-book that also had stuff like the Gundam MSVs, so I was already hooked on Gundam before it started airing on cable.

I also think that the U.C. shows are the best, but I have to remind myself that other people are entitled to their opinions as well.  Besides, Bandai spreads their technical innovations across the board when they develop new products, so we all benefit when a new feature shows up on the latest MG or HG kit, be it U.C. or non-U.C.  (And when it is a non-U.C. kit, that means that I don't have to buy it and further clutter up my house!  Big Smile

That U.C. Hard Graph Core Fighter is totally nuts.  It has lots of diorama potential.

Cheers chaps I just love the UC stuff - have done some 00 and Seed but the original is the best as they say.

I have been poring over the Core Fighter kit today and boy is that a nice kit  - absolutely fantastic! I am originally a plane guy so this is the best of both worlds.

I started the Z'Gok E today cos I couldn't resist it and to tell the truth I'll probably build em all by next May LOL - and I would like to show them here as you guys seem to appreciate your Gundam a lot.

Dave,

When you get around to the Core Fighter, what color scheme do you have in mind?  Since you are an airplane guy, would you be considering something like low-viz grey, camouflage, or a prototype test color?  Even though it is not a naval aircraft, it would look really cool on a diorama base with a blast deflector!  The canon White Base deflectors looked kind of like inverted dustbins, but the type found on carriers would be much nicer looking, IMHO.

Be sure to post progress photos of your Z'Gock E, and let us know how the kit assembles.  Inquiring minds want to know!

Dave, want to add the z'gok on the gb Big Smile?? (or others too)

I see the core fighter review ,really impressive number of pieces, the only thing i disagree on these kits are the thickness of some piece forced by the snap system, a "need glue to assembly"  gundam kits from bandai actually is just a dream.

Think my opinion is clear on which gundam period is the best for me Whistling

just have only a blue astray that does not macht with others ms desing.

Can't wait to start another GB next year with all mechs subjects Cool

Got mine started. Ditched any modification. Primary objective would be to use my bottle of alclad prismatic green gold paint with green clear coat.

Must say...Zock's not designed for dis assembly...big pieces + tight fit..very difficult to break off again once snapped..

Whenever doing ANY gundam kit.  You  M  U  S  T  put an exacto into the female end of the snap part and spin it a few times, widening it to make it easier to remove after you test fit it.

Zock has internal frame..it's the attachment points between the outer armour and internal frame that was proving problematic. I shaved off the male side given they are relatively hidden, the female joints form part of the inner frame..Looks like I will have to sand the claw bits a bit for non-interference once painted.

I have the old mg too, joints don't work so good as newer kits.

Potchip for the armour pins on the inner, i even use the x-acto blade ,not turning in as normal pins but cutted it following the female pin border a little Hmm hope explained

Ok BSY put me down for the Z'Gok too - I'll have some pix up soon.

I will probably be boring with the core fighter and go with the normal scheme but I haven't decided yet, going to build a base for it and may put some sort of tow truck with it if I can find anything that will go.

Thanks mate!

Well here we are - I'm not going to go too crazy, just repostion the eye, fill the claws in and once painted give it a bit of weathering to make it look like it has at least been in the water once or twice.

I will blend the claws in with a bit of sanding - should be good once done.

Haven't gotten too far yet, mostly fitting and prepping. but started to mod the head and added details under the 'skirt' and shoulders.

I'm moving at the end of the month, so I probably wont have much time to work on it for a bit. Gunna watch some spaghetti westerns and work on it tonight though. I put the cannon together and its much too small. :P

Trialing Alclad II's prismatic green to gold. It's not as 'light' as I expected and the real nasty surprise was it's not a gloss colour - it's decidedly flat once sprayed on a gloss black undercoat.

Painting session was not without incident with frequent drops - I really hate gloss enamels....just never seems to dry.

The little steel egg

Now it looks green

Now it sort of doesn't

Glossy smooth pristine coats are a reason I have strayed away from gundam kits recently.  I just dont find it fun to paint.  I'd rather do something flat and weathered
