John: That looks good!

Not sure about the colour. I'd doubt the NKs would repaint the tanks after getting them from the Soviets though. I've been told quality control on Second World War Soviet armour paint wasn't that great. So the paint did vary some as long as it was green.

John,

I agree with Gamera, if it's close to Soviet Armor Green you're good.

Just about through with the SAAF P-51D.  All that's left is to finish painting the ordnance, hang the bombs and rockets, and attach the antenna and pitot tube.  She's finally on her gear.

Hope to have her finished tommorow.

Very nice Mustang!  I forwarded the pictures to a South African friend to see.

Made further progress on the Big Shot by installing the spare tracks and tools:

Sorry for poor lighting.  It was cloudy, so couldn't get natural light.

Now I am just waiting for some a wood base to arrive to install the platform in the down position, that and the antenna are really all that is left as far as building goes.  Then on to decals and weathering.

Gamera and lewbud- Thanks for your responses regarding my tank and the paint mix. I found this tank which was apparently a Korean War participant:

I‘ll probably move forward with using the mix on my tank. :)

Thanks guys!

John,

I hadn't really thought about a title.  How about South African F-51D?  Looking forward to seeing more of your tank.  Time permitting, there may be more after the Corsairs.  Keep it up guys!

Thanks BK. I only wish that the decal didnt pull up on the other side. What really bugs me is it pulled up with clear coat and all. Tamiya tape

TJ: That looks good! I wouldn't sweat too much about the decals- you got those friggin' nose ones to fit a complex curve and the stripes to work- I'd pull out what hair I have left.

Love your results!

Ya, I won't put tape, any brand, over decals cuz they will nealy always lift off. In fact, that's how I pull decals for errors or repaints, apply tape and yank. I did see another kit on Evilbay with this markings if you care.

Hey, TJ! Which photo would you like for me to put up front, and what would you like to name your entry? :)

Too bad about what happened to your plane’s decal; that couldn’t have been fun.

So I just found out that Col Cellini is still alive. He's 107 and living in Colorado Springs. Currently the oldest living WWII veteran

Okay, I'm calling this one done. To recap, this is the Tamiya M-41 Walker Bulldog, one of Tamiyas first kits. It is very soft on detail and is begging for some additional work. I built this straight OOB, no add ons, no fixes. The kit needs the cupula windows cut out and clear parts added, the drivers sight glass is non-exisitant and needs clear parts. The underside of the lower hull has several holes for motors that are not part of this kit and the upper hull fenders are open underneath and need filling. It has no tow cables either. However, all in all this is a nice little kit and builds quick and easy. It resembles what it should and was a nice change from more challenging builds. I don't know if the AFV version is much better, but with some addtional work this could be a nice little kit. I just didn't want to put in the hours on this so it is what it is. I enjoyed building it.

What did he fly in WWII?

BrandonK- Your M-41 turned out pretty well, and good job on the tanker’s face. :) Which photo would you like on the roster, and what do you want to name your entry?

Let's use the 3rd pic, and I don't have a name for this one.

Uhm, how about "no action Jackson". Since these never saw any combat while in US use. Thanks for hosting this cool GB.

Will do!

Wow, no action in Korea. Why‘d the army do that? Technically, that makes it not fitting to GB rules, but I give you a pass. Big Smile It was nicknamed after a Korean War General and was certainly circa the early 50s.

 Thanks for participating, BrandonK!
