Well after the paint had time to dry last night, I did some building. Hull and turret are mostley done, saved the boring wheel bit for later. I'm glad I did as there is some major filler needing to be done underneath, some on top as well. Can't say I didnt expect some 'extra' work though to get her looking fine.

You can see the large holes here that are the worst part the rest isnt "to bad" (they are the end under the wheels that have been done)

Andrew, looks like you're off to a fine start! Thumbs Up [tup]

I should be getting started on the Yak tonight - been a while since I've been able to put in any bench time, but the juices are flowin' and I'm antsy to get underway!

Thanks mg.mikael and ruddratt.

I've been doing alot of firsts of late (first air brush camo at weekend madness GB, first resin experience for the dive bomber GB, first white wash for the russian GB), and now first gap filling super glue. All I can say is wow, easy peasy compared to putty for small areas, obvious not suitable for larger area, but will be nice to have handy for future.

Will post pics later. Have basically finished the seam and hole filling (quick job thanks to superglue and acclerate). Next job hatches etc.

Konigswolf - glad to see some progress already. I'm sure there'll be a lot more from everyone else shortly...I know that I'm in the mood after the first (accumulated) snowfall of the year - got 6 inches yesterday. Big Smile [:D]

Hellcat man - that's where the fun of this GB lies. You've got many different techniques you can use to represent your whitewash, depending what sort of look you're going for. Straight white paint, the hairspray method, pigments, tamiya weathering powders, chalks, it goes on and on. Have you got any sort of reference pic you're trying to mimic?

Ugh! These new forums are so different and hard to navigate. Plus they feel so informal now(that's not good.)Sad I can see it's gonna take me awhile before I learn to live with the change.

Hi all! New looking website, huh? Very exciting, very exciting stuff indeed! You know what else is exciting? I've got a picture or two to show you! Yay! Tried to post it an hour or two ago but it wouldn't let me...so I guess there are a few things to iron out yet. No biggie, I work in the technology business as well so I know how it goes. Well, with out further ado, here is what I've done so far....

So, there you have it. Sorry for only providing two pictures but as I said before, I'm hurting for time. I expect to move by the end of the month, or early January and we're expecting our second child in March, so I gotta be brisk with this one. The detail is scarce, the bare minimum. I've not detailed the interior and I've not modified anything. Over all, its been a nice build. Only a few seams here and there. After all, this build is about the finish, and so thats what I intend to focus on as its my favorite part of the process. I'm a little undecided as to how I'm going to do the winter wash exactly, but I'll cross that bridge when I get there. It'll be my first time so I anticipate a long night when it arrives.

Any how, I gotta go grab some grub or something. Starving.

I made a start last night by washing all my sprues.

I'm tossing up between methods to use for the "wintering", between using a chalk wash; or airbrush misting white, and drybrushing with the base colour. I still have a bit of time left to decide which to use, I'll have a practice of the methods on my resident dummy, and see which I prefer

I'm also thinking the kettenkrad with a broken track, skewed off into a snowbank would be more interesting than simply laying field cables. I think once i get the figures together they might tell me what they want to be doing.

hopefully tonight I will begin snipping sprue.

No progress pics yet, but I have RLM 66 applied on the cockpit and have started detail painting.  I won't go crazy on this since the canopy will be closed for this build, plus it's nice to do something OOB and simple.

Been picking away at the zimmerit. This is the ATAK set and so far its been good with only minor shrinkage of the lower hull panels. You can see that I opened the what I believe are exhaust ports on the hull rear.Looking closely you can see a break in the zim about a third of the way from the front.I attempted to stretch the zimm panel using a 100 watt bulb to warm the resin .The results were marginal. Also worked on the driver radio operator compartment. The seats are a jumble of rodsand small photo-etch parts.Rather than using plastic rod as the assembly guide states I used telephone wire. One side is nearly complete.I must say at this point the assembly guide is far worse than any(Dragon included)I've seen. The seat mechanism actually functions..Also got a start on the other photo-etch,bending and such.

MG, I like that for the armor badge.  certainly gets the point across.

Great stuff being done so far.  All the builds are shaping up real nice.

I am putting the finishing touches on my 1/72 Pz IV and then I start in over here.

I would like to be involved in this group build.  I will build a Henschell Hs-129B in winter scheme.  I like the idea of a really dirty winter white scheme...

Wingy - looking forward to your T-34! Which DML kit number is that?

FJS3 - will most definitely add you to the list - glad to see an HS-129 getting done. Now that you're covering it, I may do something else...we'll see what else I've got kicking around the closet.

This whole forum redesign has got me pretty screwed with my crap internet (two to three times as many pages to load to get to the same place as before). Trying to get this whole thing figured out so I can keep my same level of involvement around here. Hoping "they" (whoever "they" are) are able to restore some of the functionality we enjoyed pre-changeover.

Alright, maybe I'm just a doofus, or I'm tired of poking in the nooks and crannies of the new site trying to find stuff.

How do I edit a post?

Alright, I finally have been able to crack open my Cyber-Hobbby 'Orange Box' JS-II. I'm sorta suprised by how few sprues their are, but I guess it's begging for additional detailing. (Note: Two of the sprues in the upper right-hand corner are strictly for the figs.) After looking through the sprues, I started on the main hull. Today I was basically cleaning it up and starting some suspension parts, along w/drive sprockets.

In the frontal hull, I decided to add on a little bit more cast metal texture to the already existing molded texture. Basically just some Testor's contour putty spackled on with a very stiff brush and a little thinner.

Thanks for looking, all comment, questions, and suggestions welcome!

Some progress pics.  Cockpit is painted and assembled.  This is just a simple OOB cockpit job, so it's pretty basic.

I'll have the fuselage closed up soon.

Here are the first pictures of my Hasegawa Hs-129B-2, that I am building for this group build.  This kit is a very good one, and builds pretty quickly.  It's engineered well and goes together with no major issues.  I am pretty well ready to paint and most of this work was done in just about two days, on and off at the bench.

This is an OOB build, very simple.  I added paper belts to the cockpit, and have the Superscale set on deck.

More to come soon, Thanks for looking, and have a great day!

Thanks, mikael.  That's mostly Prismacolor pencils to highlight the dials.  Not entirely accurate, but livens up the office fairly easily.  Fuselage is now closed up.  Had a slight warp in the front fuselages halves, but nothing that can't be managed.

fsj, really quick work on the HS-129.  I've always liked the brutal, form follows function look.

Okay, I got all the roadwheels finally together and suspension together so I'm pretty much ready to start painting.Big Smile Along with that I decided to go ahead and scratch a tow cable for my JS-II, (all I really had to do was take some looped ends from this kit and use them for the tow cable instead of having them just sit there on the fender like the instructions say.)

I tried to get started on the rear of the tank, unfortunately I got lost. The instructions aren't really clear about the positioning of the rear plate, in the below pic you can see the way I think it's supposed to be placed, but I'm not sure if that's really how it's supposed to fit with the other pieces. It's sorta seems strange the plate would just sit there(with some glaring gaps).......anyone know if this is the correct positioing or am I completely wrong? All tips appreciated.

You guys are all flying! I love it! Cool

Lots of good work, fellas. I'm trying to make myself wait until the end of 1,000 Roadwheels to jump in here...although I came up with an idea for a pretty sweet build a couple of days ago (scheme, scheme). Wink

Here's what I've got planned...think I can jimmy my build schedule around enough to get this guy in there:

I KNOW I can make this work, providing I can come up with a way to effectively replicate bedsheets (maybe the JGSDF uses tarps, not sheets?).
