Just looking at that is giving me a headache!     Good luck!  Don't hesitate to ask any questions about building that.  We are here to help. 

thanks alot mate tbh the engine nacelles annoyed me far more because i followed the instructions and glued 1 half to the body then the other half to that it left a bloody great gap all round that there was just noway of closing.

in hindsight i shouldve built the nacelles as a complete unit then fitted the whole thing to the plane grrrrrr

Oh, forgot to tell you that you'll also need alot of sanding sticks and putty.    I can't believe that anyone could do anything to prevent that gap.  Just look at how misaligned those panel lines are. Same on my build; I re-scribed some and just left others as they were. 

Also, nice job with the wing pivots.  Wish I had  thought of that.    I'd still have swing wings if I did.  Sorry to hear about the nacelles.  Any chance you can cut them off?

iv done the same with the panel lines/alignment im just not good enough to make it very good so its tough lol

the pivot occured to me when i came to glue it together how do i glue the actual pivot together without it getting into the wings and siezing the wings? drill a bloody great hole through it so i can get to both sides of the pivot from outside ie after the body went together it worked a treat too 1 wing is easier to swing than tother but the pivot itself is rock solid

i tried to prize the nacelle halves off but theres no chance id snap the body before theyd give i put too much glue on them lol i think iv hidden the gap though

No problem at all. 

I believe that Don and I assembled the engine nacelles as subassemblies first.  It did make seam removal a bit easier.  I am sure that you can clean it up while they are attached.  It is probably just a bit more difficult.  The nacelles had fit problems all around.  It took a lot of sanding to get the forward piece to sit flush with the main nacelle sections.

The huge seams are not at the fault of the builder.  Don't think it is you.  The kit has many big fit problems.   Like Don said.  You need a lot of putty and sanding sticks.  A bottle of CA glue won't be bad either.

The big problems of this kit are pin marks and seams.  There are seams in every kit to clean up but these are more like trenches.  All the pin marks are on sides with the details.  The reverse side, that won't be seen, are nice and smooth.

The Eduard PE set for the Revell 1/48 F-14D arrived today.  WOOHOO!  It corrects the RIO's cockpit panel and add much needed detail to the engines and replaces dodads here and there too. 

So with the True Details seats, Steel Beach ECM blister, and Eduard PE set I should be all set to get the party started.

The True Details seats arrived today!!!  YAY!  I planned on closing the canopy but the cockpit might look good enough to keep it open.

OK, just had to respond as it is to 1000th post to this GB.  But that said, really looking forward to seeing this build.  I've liked the one or two things from true Details that I've worked with, so no surprise that you'll have fun with yours.

I started work on the Tomcat. 

As of now I have the weapons and wings assembled.  A little putty here and there to smooth out yet but not too bad of a fit. 

I also started work on the kit parts to prepare them for the PE parts.  That means some sanding and cutting.  It's not a color PE set but it should paint up nice.  I will get some pics posted ASAP.

Sounds good, Kevin.  Post some pics; things have been kind of quiet around here lately.  Still have about 5 weeks to go, so there's still time for plenty of action.

I will attempt to get some interest going in the GB so here are some progress pics of where I am at so far in the F-14 build.  Keep in mind that I still have quite a bit of work left.  I haven't got much done.

The missles.  Good thing I wanted to have 2 AIM-7 Sparrow's on this bird.  They are molded onto the wing glove pylons!

I agree about the 3 Tomcat builds.  It's a good way to learn how others tackle the same issues.

The PE set has parts for the cockpit and exterior.  It has a few parts of the Sidewinder missle rails and the Pheonix missle pallets but nothing for the Sparrow launchers.  I hope I got the terminology right on those.

I will probably cut off the swing wing mechanism on the wings and cut a groove in the wing attachment area.  This way I can paint them seperately and get good coverage.

Funny, my Revell F-14A has the same molded on Sparrows as well. And one of the tails to the Sparrows is broken!!! That's gonna be fun. May have to cut it off. Hope to get back to my Tomcat soon. I did order the Fightertown Decals for VF-1. They came in on Wednesday and they look awsome. I'll try to post some pics of the decals tomorrow. Bout done with my recert and my second job is slowing down so i'll be back with it real soon.

And from experience, I know that scotch and PE don't go well together at all.  So beware...

  He has already built some nice models.   If he builds the Bone in time it would have to be some kind of record I would imagine.

Nice job on the wing seam, Eatthis.  It is interesting how everyone has dealt with the size of this model.  Although I have to admit that pulleys and slings is unique. 

No comment on the camo.  I'll wait to see what you come up with.  Although I did see a Flanker in the background...,  how about an aggressor Bone in Flanker 3-tone Blue/gray?

It's great.  Four Revell 1/48 B-1B Lancer builds.  Never expected that when I signed up for the GB.  I figured there would be You and Me building the Bones and a bunch of Tomcats.  Nice that there has been so many different subjects so far.
