Definitely interested... am into armor so I can build Italeri M-24 Chaffee with some AM kits.  Was planning to build Chaffee this fall anyway so perfect timing. 

Well I do need a companion for my first "Forgotten War GB" badge(which is still in my signature.) So I guess I'd be in.....now only to figure out what to build.

I participated in the first Forgotten War GB so I feel up for a sequel.  I currently have the old Monogram Skyraider and F9F-5P, as well as the Kinetic F-84F Thunderstreak, in my stash - I'm pretty sure each of those were operational during the Korean War although the Skyraider might be more accurate a kit for the Vietnam era.  I also saw that the old Monogram P-80 is about to be re-released, which would likely be my entry for the GB.  I'll let you know when I decide what I feel like building.  I won't be able to start until later in the year due to other GB commitments.

Good to see this theme back again.  I am 75% finished (painted & decals applied-still needs a lot of work & the canopy masked & painted) with a Mosquito (Texan) from the first "Forgotten War" GB-could I finish it in this one & start on another project, schedule permitting?  If not, then I'll shoot for a new project.

Well, all across the subject areas, Aircraft, Helos, ships, figures, and Armor, it appears that there is more than enough interest to support a GB for this subject area. So as of now, I am saying it's a go. A couple suggestions were added- with the current situation on the peninsula today, subjects related to todays stand off or that are currently stationed there (or nearby in Japan or Okinawa and would go to war in Korea if the balloon went up) will also be allowed.

If you're making a roster I'm in, not sure which model I'll be going with yet though.

Good idea!  I've got a couple to finish, but your time frame will give me plenty of time.  I have both a -5N Corsair and F7F-3N Tigercat in Flying Nightmares schemes that I have been itching to build.  So it'll be either one.  They'll go good with my current VMF-513 Flying Nightmares F-4.

Long story longer, count me in!

Dang- I just started a Korean War B-29 for the Natural Metal II GB. And I'm hoping to make significant progress before this GB starts

At the same time I'm trying to get some stuff left over from 2009 (don't remind me 2010 is almost half over) and some other GBs finished off. I've got the M46 you gave me help with earlier this year, and a Grumman F7F and F9F I could throw in. If you go with your posted year long schedule I should be able to get something in if you want to list me as a provisional.

So I can give you a definate maybe so far...

Let's see; I have a Matchbox F3D Skyknight, and an Academy B-50, both in 1/72. Although I suppose the Superduperfortress didn't see action on the Peninsula. Hmmm....

Wow, it sounds like lots of enthusiasm and volunteers for this GB. Very good! I will get the roster going in a few weeks as we firm up the participants! I think this should be a very good one!

As another memeber of the Fogotten War GB I would like to say sure...why not a follow up....evnthough I lean more towards thingies with props I can accomodate....I had fun building a F9F Panther last time...for now pencil me in....I'm just getting back from a short time off from building and have other GB commitments but I think I can manage....It will give me time to think about the subject.....hmmmmm..

Just a quick question, does the markings on the tank have to match with the Korean War? I do not know if Tamiyas 1/48 M26 has markings for World War II and Korea. I'd really like to do this tank but if it does not fit with this build I will have to do a Mig15 instead.

Yes, the markings will have to be as used in Korea. Teh M26 is a a good choiuce for subject matter. The T-34 tamer. It was used by both the Army and the Marines during the Korean War. I am fairly certain the Tamiya Pershing kit has a Korean War marking option. Marine Corps I beleive.

On a more serious note please put me down with a Dragon 1/35th M46. With a year to go even I should be able to get her finished.

I just watched a documentary on the Korean War today which had been on my DVR awhile. A "reluctant" Chicom volunteer told his tale of how those who at first rfused to volunteer were forced to sit on hot furnaces/stoves untilt he heat forced them to stand and "volunteer".

Great to have you onboard and I really like your choice! I have that kit in the stash. If it builds like their M-26 and M-26A1 kits, everything will build quickly except the tracks. (and that killer Tiger face paint job!)

As much as I love the tiger face I'm thinking about doing the M46 before the Red Chinese entered the war, so I guess she'll be plain jane olive drab. Boring but yes it looks like an excellent kit.

When you helped me with my post on the armour forum early this year there was some discussion about service dates on the M46. I did a little research and it seems the first M46 rolled off the assembly line in '49 and served alongside the M26 throughout the war slowing supplanting the latter. So pretty much both tanks saw service from beginning to end.

From what I have read, the M46 did not enter combat until early 1951 in Korea. At least from the photos I have seen in several books. The first US tanks to see combat were M24s rushed over from Japan, and they were not capable of stopping the T-34. Small dribs of Army M4A3 (76mm) and M26s arrived around the time of the Pusan Perimeter fight, then finally the 1st Marine Tank battalion with M4s and M26s and M26A1s. M46s came in when the Pershing proved underpowered in the hilly Korean terrain. The M46 was essentially a re engined and improved M26A1.

 I guess you could count me in. The only problem, what kit should I build?

MRC 1/35 scale Bell H-47 M*A*S*H evac chopper

Revell 1/35 scale M*A*S*H Jeep & "Swamp" tent scene

Revell 1/35 scale M*A*S*H M-35 truck and triouge scene

[evidently, I'm a big fan of M*A*S*H]

and 1 AMT/Eartl 1/48 scale F-7F Tigercat

Depending on the due dates and other stuff, I'll probably be able to clean off my workbench (yeah, that'll never happen) and work on 2 at a time, which means I could build all 4.

Then again, I could pull a wild-card and kitbash 2 Revell P-51 Mustangs into the F-82 Twin Mustang

Well for so much that has contributed to Korea being "the forgotten war", the Bell 47 sure does evoke images of that war among the current popular memory, if for not other reason than the TV series.

I don't think it really matters that much except that I'm still musing over MacArthur doing a photo-op with a knocked out T34 and would like to throw an American tank it there. I suppose I could use a M26 but I already have a M46 and I could use General RIdgeway but Mac was more 'colourful'.

I went back and checked my primary book on tanks for this. I guess I should l have read it more closely. It indeed mentions the 6th having M46s and engaging Communist T-34s during the Pusan Breakout fighting in September/October 1950.
