I started a WIP thread on this build back on page 22 and I finally got some time on the model bench after work and family commitments kept me busy for nearly a month.  I applied two coats of Gloss Sea Blue on the recce bird and started the fighter-bomber version that is going to be the Blue Tail Fly.  That will be covered in a separate thread.

Today's efforts:

I used eagle strike once, i wasnt overly impressed with them. Especially after using ventura decals. I felt they were quite thick. Even so, thats a mighty striking scheme. I like it.

Opps. Forgot to post the pic of the decals. They're from Eagle Strike but I'm not sure if I like them. Gonna try to get the just released ones from Fightertown Decals as they look sooo much better.

Well i've started. (Pick your jaws off the floor now). Here's a pic of the True Details cockpit. I was going to post a pick of the cockpit (painted of course) but I ran out of paint (rattle can) in the middle of it. So I gotta bust out the airbrush to finish painting it. More later.

Scorpiomikey,  A while back I had a problem with Photobucket and had to replace and move some files.  My F7F Tigercat was wiped out with this move.  I've since edited my posts and replaced the photos, but I cannot edit your post on the first page.  I feel bad that my finished aircraft is a lost photo icon.  Could you replace it with this.  Thanks.  Rick

Er, F-86 isnt a grumman cat. Sure you got the right GB pepper?

Ooooops !! ...Huh?

Heh... Now you must don the prop-beanie Propeller, run around the inside of the hangar with your arms extended and making airplane noises, while singing "Coming In on a Wing and a Prayer"...

Bow Down

Damn, gonna have to use your green beanie, as my DayGlo beanie is still at the dry cleaners ...

As far as running around, arms out and making airplane noises, my wife accuses me of already doing that ... particularly, if I hear a Merlin or a 'round engine' airplane go over our house ...

As far as singing goes, all who know me say my singing sounds like a hound dog with iits leg caught in a barbed wire fence on a cold night ...

What's one to do, sez me ...

Hi Scorp ;

Is it okay if I change kits from what I was going to originally build ?

I did nominate Hasegawa's combo kit of the F9F-8 Couger and F11F tiger , however I would like to build the 1/72 Monogram F7F Tigercat , with Cobra Co. resin F7F-3N cockpit set , Quickboost engine nacelles and Starfighter decals .

My kit came from ebay and unfortunatly is missing one of the tail planes . I have some spare tail planes from a Academy B-17 kit , which I thought I would use to make two replacement tail planes using the original one as a template .

Is it okay if this is a cross over build with the Korean War GB ?

Well. my bearcat is going back into the pile for a while. im waiting for the decal bonder to show up at the LHS and im itching to start my 32nd stang. So bearcat takes a back seat for a while. Hopefully in the next couple weeks ill be able to pull it out and continue with it.

The scheme.

Name: Bamboo Bandit.

Colour: Black and white (like a panda)

Markings: Shark mouth decals. Number 19. Name Written like bamboo under "Eyes". Eyes on cowling.

This will all have to wait until i get the decal bond, and i get the motivation to continue with it.

So the conclusion is everybodys cold but me? lol.

I have a question for you guys today. I came up with a name for my racer and im trying to come up with a scheme to match. Im thinking "Badger Bait" Paint im thinking of is black spinner (im going to make a larger spinner for it like rare bear has) White nose area, then black areas around some eye decals with a shark tooth decal under the chin. What do you guys think? Any suggestions? My other thoughts were "Bamboo Bandit" or "xióng māo" (translates to "bear cat" which is what the Chinese call the panda)

No comment to you Texas guys.............Minnesota is colder than my ex wife's heart! It was 0 this morning......tomorrow will be sub 0.

Dean

Heya, Dean - glad we're not there and wish I weren't here :-) ... as my Old Man sez, 'it's colder than a nun's buns' - that's the polite version ...

Still and all, when one has gotten used to weeks of 100+ degree days, anything under 60 starts to feel a wee bit chilly ...

Hey Pepper Kay. It's been pretty cold her in Houston but not that cold. Although when I went to work yesturday morning it was 28. Guess our few days of winter are here.

Yeah, I guess so ... knowing the way the weather is here, it will probably be in the 70's next week :-) ...

It's been cold here, too, but not AS cold. I think we're supposed to get into the low 40s today!

Austin is really nice ... I have a brother who lives there - been there now about 25 years ... love to go down for a visit now and then ...

I just checked the temps, getting ready to leave ... I think this picture I jsut took says it all :-) ...
