Yup Casper it is camo time Surprise Got the top colors on and decals too ! I also did a bit of weathering.

I will take pictures of the camo in natural light it shows much better that way. Now for the landing gear I will preface this by saying this IS the fiddly gear I have ever assembled, and it was a quite challenge. But its on.

.

I decided not to beat this one up much because I would guess they were kept close to Berlin and kept in a very well maintained condition. I also know being made of mostly wood they couldn't allow paint to chip. Wouldnt have taken much moisture to drastically weaken the airframe.

More pictures soon the engines have been installed and the glue is drying, then a few small bits and some touch ups here and there and she will be finished.

Yup Casper they were mostly plywood. The cool thing about them was they were accidental stealth. When the Germans made an air raid on England the radar surrounding the island gave them 20 to 30 minutes warning of the inbound aircraft. When they tested the 229 that warning time was reduced to3 to 5 minutes and from what I understand  even then it looked like a flock of birds on the radar screen. There was a show done on the Histroy Channel about them that was really interesting. Do a search on youtube and you will find it there its very much worth watching IMHO.

Ok then the Horton 229 is finally finished.

Hope ya like the picture Surprise Cool camo huh Yes

Ok lets turn the stealth thingy off here.

It is kinda hard to see from the front huh

For the base coat I used Tamiya Olive Green and the camo is Tamiya Black green. I cut the edges of the masking ( which was just post-it paper ) with pinking shears. I think it worked out very well from some angles it looks to have a very soft edge and from others it looks like a very hard pinked edge. My camera really doesnt to it justice I think its time for a new camera or maybe A NEW OPERATOR Indifferent.

I also built it so I can show off the engines if I choose to. That Microscale Liquid Tape works great for holding the engine covers on even while I was painting the model they didn't move nor leak. I slid the engines in after I finished all the painting, sure made masking easier.

Anyway hope ya like her Casper

Thank you Casper Toast

I would like to do another stealth build this year but will have to see how things go. Health issues have prevented me from building as much as I would like, hopefully this year will be better than last year was. I didnt finish all the builds I had commited to group builds. That bothers me and I hope it doesnt happen this year.

Hey all!!

Sorry I haven't added anything in a long time. Been busy with work and various other things. I'm about finished with the Predator. Decals are on as well as the flat coat. Now just need to add the landing gear and some touch ups and it's done. Here's the pics.

Here it is with the decals on. Had to do a couple of repairs before I flat coated it.

And here it is after the flat coat.

You need to get an account for a photo hosting site ie. Photobucket, Flickr etc. That way you can post your photos here as an IMG file. It would also be good to see some work in progress photos as well.

Cheers

This GB has been quiet for a bit now. Time for me to add some new content. I'm doing the Academy F-22A Raptor. Nice kit, I'm also adding the LP cockpit set in resin. This plane is huge, I mean huge. This fuselage is almost the size of an F-16 in 1/32!!

Some really nice detail in the Legendary Productions cockpit

Cheers

Ok, so after having a look at the scant LP instructions and doing a test fit with the Academy parts, I've concluded that the tub can fit in without me having to cut away the resin plug at the bottom. Bonus and YAY! This is the part of using resin that I hate.

Fits right in on top of the front wheel bay, I only have to slice away some of the cockpit sill and the kits HUD and IP cover.

Cheers

Some more work done on the Raptor;

Cockpit before detailing with seat and console/IP

I primed the bomb bays in black so the gloss white had a depth to help with the detail. Once painted up these should look very busy;

Removed the kits HUD and prepared a plastic shelf for the resin replacement.

Cheers
