Sorry guys, I seem to be a bit remiss on the hosting it seems. A couple of builds escaped me!

Travis, your completed F-117 is on the front page. I am very sorry, not sure how I missed this for so long!

Scorpiomikey, is your F-117 completed? Last WIP showed painting and decals but canopy and such things had still not been attached? Just let me know and we can get Page 1 udpated. Pete still haven't seen completed SR-71, hopefully this can get updated as well. Less than 8 weeks to go but I am sure I will extend the build time.

Cheers

Oh sorry Casper Embarrassed IP = instrument  panel and the CRT would be the small TV screens on the instrument panel. I more than likely don't have the name of those right. I am still hoping to start the Horton 229 soon and be finished by the end date, I know time is running out for me though. This has really been a bad building year for me.

Okey dokey, I can almost see the end of this bird.

Decalling done, just need to finish off the gunsight, wash the panel lines, detail the undercarriage with a light oil wash and finish the canopy.

Ok, she's done. Another Lockheed of the assembly floor. I really love their designs. I've done the F-104, SR-71, F-16J and now the F-117A. I'm doing the F-35B next.

I am just amazed by the shape of this thing. It's like a spacecraft.

Next build is the Lockheed F-35B "Lightning". This Fujimi kit is excellent.

Really nice joins on the fuselage and very detailed as well. Even comes with PE for the turbines for the SVTOL and coloured PE for the cockpit. I'll add some harnesses to complete the look of the office.

The PE intake blades look really good. Nice touch on a 1/72

Already this kit is fitting together really well. Very well planned molds, my first Fujimi model and I'm quite impressed.

Ok, decalling done, greeblies added. The pitot on the nose didn't fit properly and is proving to be a PITA

Next a very light weathering for the whole plane.

Gotta say, Lockheed certainly do make their single seater fighters very large! This thing is a monster.

Ok, another one done! This is also my last build for this GB. Sweet kit except for one little drawback. It has a lot of those snap lock pins, especially in the fuselage. It makes it difficult to test fit pieces and get them apart again. Other than that I would like to see what they (Fujimi) have in larger scales.

Exhaust can in downwards vertical takeoff position

Nicely detailed undercarriage and wheel bays especially for a 1/72 offering

Cheers

A little ;late I know but I do have WIP pictures to show I have started anyways.

First the box art

First off I have to say there is a BUNCH of prep work to be done on this kit, not much flash but loads of mold lines to be removed. I bet I have spent 4 or 5 hours doing that alone on all the tiny parts. The engines are almost ready, I just need to add a few of the fiddly parts and a wash. The center section is about ready for the first round of paint.

I know I am cutting it close Casper but I will make the end date Hmm

don't worry about the date, I'm extending this GB indefinitely. A few kits not started and no point in stopping at some arbitrary date, huh!?

Casper I havent forgotten, ran into a snag with my 229, the wings were cracked at the root. Is weird how they cracked too and I couldn't see the cracks until I cut them from the sprues. Anyway I got them fixed and the wing panels glued together. I will get some pictures up in the next couple of days and show what I am talking about.

Finally got some building time so here are some WIP pictures.

The center section is together less the cockpit.

Engines are finished less a wash to make detail pop a bit more and give them a slightly burned metal look in a couple of places where its needed.

I think the engines can be installed after painting but we will see, sure will make masking easier me thinks.

Next up are the cracks in the wings the red lines show where they are. They didnt seem to like glue much so I  uses plasticard on the inside to pull them together then ran a brush full on Tamiya liquid glue over the cracks. They seem to be holding.

And here they are waiting quietly to be mated  to the center section

Casper this will be my 5th kerosene burner Big Smile First one was a Testers F-104 in NMF I I believe.

I am starting to think I am hexed on my builds, ran into another Censored wall on this one.

So I found if I put the wings on the center section per instructions I will have some HUGE gaps to deal with. I had read a couple of reviews of the kit and it was suggested to glue the wings to the center sections then gluing them together as upper and lower halves. Took a look at that and found there would be problems there too. So I glued the upper and lower halves together per instructions, center and wing panels. Then glued the wings to the center leaving the pins out and they went together fine as frogs hair. There are a few places that need a bit of filling and sanding but its no worse than most kits I have built. Here are some WIP pictures.

If I had used the pins there would have been a 1/32 gap all the way around the wing roots, but by leaving them out not too bad at all. The next picture shows the next troubled spot.

When I glue the nose on ( I am leaving the engines out at this point and haven't glued the nose yet ) I found there will be a 1/16 bond line at the cockpit forward section. That is all that will be supporting the nose gear once the model is assembled !!!! Surprise I marked the area with red lines in the following picture.

This wont do so its back to the drawing board for a fix. Bang Head

Ah, V-Man I remember the F-104 now.

Those gapes look about the same size as what happened with my Dornier. Tamiya are very accurate so I'll blame the resin parts. I think you'll be fine. With enough putty, one can repair anything!! Super Angry

Well finally getting better from my bout with pneumonia and back to building at last. Sorry I am so late Casper.

Got the seat finished, didnt like the paper seat belt idea from the instructions and figured using tape with the PE parts would be a nightmare so I resorted to the von Hammer method and used foil for the belts.

Sorry about the picture my camera is old and doesnt like closeups anymore. Solved the nose problems with some strategically placed dabs of 30 minute epoxy. Those little 1/16 wide bond joints would never have held the nose gear with out breaking, so the cockpit is finished and the nose is on.

Now for a little filling and sanding. Kind of strange how Dragon places so much surface detail, panel lines and rivets on a wooden plane dont ya think ? I will be sanding most all of it off other than inspection hole covers and spoilers.

Hey all you Stealthers, I'm just letting you know I'm extending this GB until the end of this year. Still a bunch of non-starts on the roster so I thought "what the hey..."

I've also added a 1/48 F-22A Academy kit I picked up before Xmas. Also found a Legendary Productions resin cockpit set for it as well.

Cheers

Finally got some work done on the 229 and have a few pictures to show. Surprise

All the filling and sanding is finished and masking has been finished as well.

I have to tell ya the canopy didn't want to fit at all, gave me fits in fact. Anyway I showed it a 5 lb mallet and the welding torch and wow that attitude adjustment worked wanders. I did manage to get some RLM 76 painted on the bottom and hope to get at least the base color on top tomorrow.

So far so good
