Thats a nice looking kit Ninetalis!  I may have to pick one up someday......like when I finish up that Glencoe Pfalz!!

Last night I thought i heard a noise coming from some dark far away pace.  It was you guys rummaging around in here.  I thought this had finally bled out.  I see that's not the case  WOOHOO!  Looking forward to some progress ninetails.

Marc, once the winter months draw closer (late Oct-Nov) I should be starting on that  WnW Fe2b.

here is my progress on the Fokker so far!

Hey all, I finished the Fokker yesterday, she's 99% done,
just need to put some more subtle accent details on it.

Sadly enough, I don't have any progress pic's of this project, my camera's battery died so while it was reloading I finished this little guy.
Some big issue that I had was that I had used the wrong part for the struts on the main landing gear, those parts were to be placed between the main fuselage and the upper wing...
After a lot of sweat, swearing, cutting and glueing I fixed the darn thing! yeehaw! 

I was thinking to rig the model, but I have no idea how, and I found a few good explanations (I think) but I don't have the right wire laying around. I will stop by the store some time and rig it, but for the time beeing, it is done. Also, any sites explaining how to rig stuff are still welcome!
There are also a lot of firsts on this one,
first complete airbrush, first non-WWII, first WWI, first time I used my 'Tamiya mud pen', first wood grain prop...
I'm really proud about the wooden prop! But no more blabla, here are the pic's.

Ninetalis, very nice Dr.1 ya got there . Something about that bird painted all red just sets it apart from anything else. For rigging wire, stretched sprue will work in a pinch. Good thing about that bird is there ain't much of it. Not sure if Revell included a rigging diagram, but Eduard did, and it can be found on their site.

Thanks Rudratt, I'm not sure if there is a rigging diagram in there, I think so but I'm not really sure. 
But I would really like to try something like this , but I only seem to find people who only half explain what they do, or they just post some pic's and don't explain at all what they're actually doing...

Well heck if the end date is listed as indefinately I'll throw in my little (and by little I mean microscopic) Revell 1/72 Fokker Dr. 1 'The Red Baron". I'm about 10% done on it, thrown in a to-do pile for a long time, may as well do something on it here and there between major tasks on larger builds.

I started my bumblebee sized Dr. I tonight since I got mad at another project I was working on. I'll pop a few pics in tomorrow night of the quarter sized (if that) cockpit.

Cockpit done. I lost part #7 (instrument bar) somewhere so I'll have to see about making a replacement. Colors probably aren't correct, most likely it won't be too noticeable since the hole you can see down in there is about the size of a pinhead anyway.

Also if anyone is looking for a build idea, here's an interesting story. In 1912 after the infamous sinking of the RMSM Titanic, construction was halted on the third of the Olympic class trio. The name was supposedly to have be RMS Gigantic, however White Star denied the claim and officially named the hull Britannic. Construction on the new ships hull was stalled until 1913 and numerous new safety measures were put in to effect including watertight bulkheads extending to to B deck and a new style of davit called a gantry davit. These new davits could hold 15-20 boats each and had the capability to reach clear across the ship if need be. Other features including a childrens playroom and a pipe organ were added in an effort to make her even more impressive than her sisters. By 1915 the Britannic was nearly complete when the British Government began requisitioning ocean liners for use as troop transports and hospital ships. The RMS (now HMHS) Britannic's interiors were removed and the interiors converted to dormatories, operating rooms, and patient wards, as well as makeshift morgue was added on the fantail. On 11/21/1916 just after 8 am the Britannic was steaming through the Kea channel off the coast of Greece when she hit a mine laid by a German U boat. only 32 people were killed, most of those during a miscommunication where as her captain made an attempt to beach his ship on an island 2 miles away some of the lifeboats were launched and sucked in to the spinning propellers. About 60 minutes later the ship had sank in about 300 feet of water.

Got the main fuse assemble along with the stabelizers and tail. The main airframe is flat black and the undersides are sky blue/green/gray whatever it is. Then I added the streaking effect with a not quite drybrush, but wetter than drybrushing if that makes sense. Not sure if this scheme ever existed in 1:1 but far as I see it there were alot of tripes in WWI, photos don't exist of all of them, and I didn't wanna red barron (sorry guys that did one).

Don't worry, I'm not a fan of the Red Baron really, I just wanted something small with a simple paint job to get me back into the game.

Nice story on that Ship you posted there, I might consider to build one if I would find a titanic model in 1/350. I know that minicraft has one, but in EU you can't order those.

The Revell 1/400 will work equally well with patience and some photoetch. With some digging there are a few 1/350 and 1/400 brass conversion sets to make the job easier. There are a few sites that show the differences in deck plans (mostly the stern and the new 3rd class lounge and "sun deck" areas were different as was the window arrangement and the boat deck). Titanicmodel.com has several experts that can answer your questions and point you toward good reference.

Another interesting and oft overlooked WWI subject is the Titanic's older sister Olympic which was also requisitioned by the British government as a troop transport. HMT Olympic had a pretty striking grey and black dazzle scheme and anti aircraft ordinance added those being the only two major changes from her civilian look.

But I don't do 1/400 when modelling ships, not that I've ever build one but I have one 1/350 IJN Yamato in my stash and I try to use the scale to prevent my stash getting out of hand, it's bad enough as it is allready.
I don't do any other scale other than 1/48 and 1/32 when doing aircraft, and haven't really bought any 1/32's since last summer.

Anyway, I knew about her sistership the Olympic but not the britannia,
I just like that hospital ship sheme, and it's one of those areas that aren't that well covered, so I'm interested!
I'll look into it when I have time and etc., seems like I'll have to search for 2 1/350 Titanic models...

Oh yeah, maybe I should mention that I don't want to build the HMS Titanic itself, but the wreckage, or better said, half the wreckage since it is spread over such a vast area, I saw some really neat models and I just wanted to make one myself,...
I just better start with my Yamato first, or maybe I'll buy a small Revell sub to pratice, or maybe...

The Titanic wreckage is a fun build. The best advice I can give is get a cheap glue bomb or find a hull online and then get about 10lbs of sheet styrene and strip. I built one in 2004 from the 1/570 kit, I have it posted up on my site, about 85% of it is Plastruct lol.

Hey Marc, is the GB still rolling along?  I know I still haven't finished the Glencoe Pfalz III, but I picked up a cool French Schneider 1897 75mm Field Gun that looks like a quick, neat little build!  

Plus I'd like to see Ernie's Fokker E.II....

I thought this one had  just sailed off quietly into the sunset.  Technically I left it open ended so to be true to my word I will have to say... Sure  what the heck.  You never know, it may remind some people they had signed up and it may get a second wind. Wait... we had one of those.  OK a 3rd wind.  Give it a shot.  If it doesn't take off and generate any interest move your builds to the appropirtate forum.

Marc, are Cross overs ok. If so, i would like to throw my hate in, not often i will be building a WW1 kit. It will be the Airfix 1/72nd 0/400. It was bought by my other half for my birthday and i am building it for my Gift GB.

Bish... go for it.  If you wanted to do a '64 'Vette with Eddie Rickenbacker driving i would that's cool too.

And that would be a very cool build to add. DO IT!  Your HP... not the vette

I'd pretty much decided to dedicate this year to the 1943 GB. Now if we can get some enthusiasm for a war fought by gentlemen (except for the poison gas and blockades aimed at destroying societies) I've got another Academy biplane (a 1/32 Neiuport that Des Delatorre considers a very good kit - and if he thinks so, I'll not quibble) that I might do for a change of pace. Like to do one more bipe before building a WNW Pfalz that I got for present a few months back. Actually, I wish I would have known the thread was still active here. A while ago I did the biggest project in my modeleling career trying to make some respectable out the USS Oregon - a kit originally out in the 50's. I entered it in the Castles of Steel mini-build (not sure how many were finished) and that was appropriate as Oregon won her spurs in the Spanish American War but was in service in both world wars. Here she is an honorary entry in this GB.
