Received my MK IV late yesterday
Did a quick look through and unless their are any hidden problems belive this will be an easy quick build. So I am looking for either a Whippet, MK IV "Female", Hermaphrodite, or Tadpole to go along with my first entry if thats OK. I am hoping for a Whippet but am presently bidding on a MK IV "Female". Will know in a few days.
Does anyone know of AM tracks for the MK IV? Dont like the ones in the kit. Will ask on the Armor side also.
Rob
Wingnut, can I join with Eduard's Camel?
This will be my first airplane, not counting some that I build some 25 years ago. I choose Camel because my wife's grandfather was flying them in WW I. Scored few kills too.
Cheers...
Mike, those scavenged connector are going to look a treat with the wire in there.
Rob... howsabout some sprue shot?
CN... you are in. Any boxes of photos in an attic some where so you can build his plane? That would be very cool.
Marc
A quick message to all combatants.
There seemed to be a real flurry of, "...then I'll do this one, then after that I'll do that one. And If I can find the kit maybe even the other one..."
I fear i may have missed some kit additions. Please take a look at the official roster and if there is something you plan to do that i don't have... send me a PM so it doesn't get lost in the shuffle.
Please, please, please count me in on this. I have a few Roden kits 1/72 that I would like to get cracking on.
More than likely a Fokker TriplaneDr1, Abletros D V, and a Sopwith Camel.
Great time for this build!!

Travis, very happy to have you with us. I'll put you down for all you can change or eliminate 1 any time if need be. Where in FL are you?

Click on "PanzerShop" under categories and then go to "Acc. & Detail sets 1/35".

"We have our own ammunition. It's filled with paint. When we fire it, it makes pretty pictures....scares the hell outta people."
And away we go!
What a great kit! Went together with almost no flash or fuss! Althought the Carpet Monster struck again!
Wow TD4438! You're off to a great start!
OK wing_nut, sign me up for this GB! Being a treadhead I'll be building an armor kit, just not sure which one yet. I'm leaning to either the DESkit Renault FT-17 tank or the Accurate Armour Mk.A Whippet tank. I'll let you now which as soon as I get one on order!

Last Armor Build - 1/35 Dragon M-26A1, 1/35 Emhar Mk.IV Female
Last Aircraft Builds - Hobby Boss 1/72 F4F Wildcat & FW-190A8
I'm currently lacking in paint,so it won't get the camo job I initially wanted to do.I miss the days of an LHS just around the corner.
TD, there should be at least 1 WIP pic between the i the box shot and the finished build shot
Ernest.. glad to have you. Is the DES kit available? Any reviews of it out there?

A.There weren't a whole lot of parts.
B.When I'm in build mode,it's difficult to focus on getting pics.
Just bustin' your orbs. I just thought was funny. All in the box then BOING, a model.
It's called magic!
Current Progress
Basecoat
Highlited
Markings and some metallic
I really like the way the paint looks.
I am sad to report that some one broke into my garage. I went to get MY Albatros from storage and it was gone! It was replaced with the same kit in a box still with the original tape seal. Surely that can be the only explanation. There is no way I didn't rip that box open to ogle and fondle the plastic as soon as it arrived. Right?
TD, that is a cool little kit, and it's shaping up into a fine build!
Marc, maybe that guy has a fetish for pre-ogled WWI kits?
Ruddratt - Thanks for that link. Real nice stuff in there. Thank I will be getting a few things from here.
TD4438 - Nice, fast, like what you've done
Thanks guys. This kit is nicely detailed and went together quite well.Parts fit is spot on.
wing_nut, I can't find any US or UK distributor of DESkit that has FT-17s available. Looks like I may have to order from them directly: not an easy thing because their website is difficult to figure out and ordering looks to be by fax! The only "review" I've come across is in another magazine where Mike Rinaldi mentions that its a pretty straitforward build. He just corrected a couple of hatches and replaced the tracks with Friuls.
Good luck in your search. I am looking forward to the build..curios about the kit. Is it relay $85 as it is listed, but not available, at Great Model?
The DESkit website lists it at 53 euros, which equates to about $79-$80 USD!! And that doesn't include international shipping! Expensive but well worth it if it means not having to spend so much time correcting a poor plastic kit! I can always make more $$,...but I can't make more time!
Not much time for the bench today, but I did get the base color for the exhaust and the air recognition marking done.
Looking nice TD.
I like that one Ernest... make more money but not time.
Wow, I cannot believe that is the ancient Airfix kit. What a job! That kit is as old as WW1 itself, I think.
Cheers
Tony
I'm just taking it one GB at a time.
Looking good TD4438! Just how old IS that Airfix kit??
Thanks guys.I read somewhere that this kit has been around since 1967.It is definately a well produced kit.
It's probably not the last time I'll build it.
I'll be in for an Emhar Mk IV tank. (Finished Iron Duke the week before you announced the build. A conscpiracy.)
Eric
A model boat is much cheaper than a real one and won't sink with you in it.
Eric you're in. And we know you finished the Iron duke last week. I have your place bugged. How else would I have known to start when i did.
Marc,
Sign me up for a Wingnut Wings LVG C.VI.
