Received my MK IV late yesterday

Did a quick look through and unless their are any hidden problems belive this will be an easy quick build.  So I am looking for either a Whippet, MK IV "Female", Hermaphrodite, or Tadpole to go along with my first entry if thats OK.  I am hoping for a Whippet but am presently bidding on a MK IV "Female".  Will know in a few days.

Does anyone know of AM tracks for the MK IV?  Dont like the ones in the kit.  Will ask on the Armor side also.

Wingnut, can I join with Eduard's Camel?

This will be my first airplane, not counting some that I build some 25 years ago. I choose Camel because my wife's grandfather was flying them in WW I. Scored few kills too.

Cheers...

Mike, those scavenged connector  are going to look a treat with the wire in there.

Rob... howsabout some sprue shot?

CN... you are in.  Any boxes of photos in an attic some where so you can build his plane?  That would be very cool.

A quick message to all combatants.

There seemed to be a real flurry of, "...then I'll do this one, then after that I'll do that one. And If I can find the kit maybe even the other one..."

I fear i may have missed some kit additions.  Please take a look at the official roster and if there is something you plan to do that i don't have... send me a PM so it doesn't get lost in the shuffle.

Please, please,  please count me in on this. I have a few Roden kits 1/72 that I would like to get cracking on.

More than likely a Fokker TriplaneDr1, Abletros D V, and a Sopwith Camel.

Great time for this build!!

And away we go!

What a great kit! Went together with almost no flash or fuss! Althought the Carpet Monster struck again!

Wow TD4438!  You're off to a great start!

OK wing_nut, sign me up for this GB!  Being a treadhead I'll be building an armor kit, just not sure which one yet.  I'm leaning to either the DESkit Renault FT-17 tank or the Accurate Armour Mk.A Whippet tank.  I'll let you now which as soon as I get one on order!

I'm currently lacking in paint,so it won't get the camo job I initially wanted to do.I miss the days of an LHS just around the corner.

I really like the way the paint looks.

I am sad to report that some one broke into my garage.  I went to get MY Albatros from storage and it was gone!  It was replaced with the same kit in a box still with the original tape seal.  Surely that can be the only explanation.  There is no way I didn't rip that box open to ogle and fondle the plastic as soon as it arrived.  Right?Whistling

TD, that is a cool little kit, and it's shaping up into a fine build! Yes

Marc, maybe that guy has a fetish for pre-ogled WWI kits? Stick out tongue

wing_nut, I can't find any US or UK distributor of DESkit  that has FT-17s available.  Looks like I may have to order from them directly: not an easy thing because their website is difficult to figure out and ordering looks to be by fax!   The only "review" I've come across is in another magazine where Mike Rinaldi mentions that its a pretty straitforward build. He just corrected a couple of hatches and replaced the tracks with Friuls.

The DESkit website lists it at 53 euros, which equates to about $79-$80 USD!!  And that doesn't include international shipping!  Expensive but well worth it if it means not having to spend so much time correcting a poor plastic kit!   I can always make more $$,...but I can't make more time!Wink

Wow, I cannot believe that is the ancient Airfix kit. What a job! That kit is as old as WW1 itself, I think.

Cheers

It's probably not the last time I'll build it.
