If you can't wait, and the fact that you use netflix means you have high speed internet, go crazy on this youtube channel, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6PvGJTPtiZI

Unfortunately, all I have (and can get) at home is tethering to my phone - so no movie downloads for me. Stuck with the actual physical discs. And, like I said earlier, it looks like someone lost/broke/stole the first disc in the 08th MS Team series, so I'm kind of out of luck there unless I can find it locally.

Maybe I'll start in with the Gundam movies? They should summarize the first series fairly well, I take it?

Ms Igloo isn't a bad entry point into the Gundam UC universe. It briefly shows the start of Operation British and takes you through a few key points in the One Year War from a Zeon viewpoint.

mmm the gb take a look as gundam enciclopedia..

a gogg good thing to remind for modding is that in gundam universe radars does not exist, because  particle emitted by minovsky reactors make it unusefull, then the only way to find enemy veichles are ir sensors , sonars and just a good eye Cool

then a gogg good update

actually i don't have computers down on the farm for references consulting , without it i cannot continue my others works , so more time to work on the giant brown anphibious

prepare to heatforming clear visor for the monoeye , a mold usually i use the same piece in the kit that represents it. I use a lighter or a candle to heat the clear piece

Photobucket

first try was a fail

Photobucket

but second not !

Photobucket

without removing from the mold i cut it using the same as guide

Photobucket

and final result with natural smoke effect Cool

Photobucket

Photobucket

changing zone

after glued the hip ,some groove apear in (this was one of first ,11 years old molds, hguc and not perfect like newest)

Photobucket

started to meltdown some piece of plastic  with tamiya glue and forced in

i'll return after on with putty

chest glued (removed original inner pins to make easier paint stage

to do good mods good tools are needed

and so, start to cut somethig

plastic of this hguc are a little too strong, and some thing even go wrong

Ick! ... then the hole for the under head is done, i'll refine it after scratched the well for the under of head .

removing the pins for the retracted arms option (on the mg version the arms can really retracted!) for underwater cruising, i will posing the gogg out of water

on the underlegs some other improvements

digging in dept the existing lines , i'll try to do more perpective to the lines

and added others panel lines on the pieces

that's all for this night!

Managed to pry myself from my homework long enough to snap a couple pics of current progress:

Sorry about the blurriness. As I said, I only had a few minutes to snap some pics. The Color scheme is grey on blue, matched to the original tones of the plastic sprues. Just painting the bloody parts took nearly two weeks.

Notice the distinct lack of leg tubes? I broke one of the springs provided for the leg tubes during assembly. My bad. It's a 'custom' suit anyway, so I guess it doesn't really matter, until I figure out a way to overcome the problem (piece of shoelace, maybe?).

Keep up the outstanding work, all.

I, like always, am working on about 12 different projects at one time, none of which I will finish, well, hopefully Ill finish this one, heh.  So I havent gotten that much work done on it, The turret is built, just have to paint it then do the body.

What our good friend Bsyamato was trying to say about the history is that in the gundam universe a professor Minovsky discovered a particle that interferes with sensors such as long range radar.  The battleships would use this to mask their location on a battlefield.  It was sort of like a smoke grenade, honestly, if the particles were around you knew there were enemies around, but you could not see them.  Eventually they were used to also cover the launch of a ship's mobile suits though this made the mobile suit pilots have to rely on their eye sight.  Because of this a lot of suits after the one year war had cockpits that were not like standard cockpits, but round with a virtual screen that covered the entire inside of the cockpit, letting them see everything around them as if their suit was not there.

These particles were not as effective on the ground for the EFGF started using sonar trucks.  They were large trucks that looked much like APCs, with a 50 caliber anti air machine gun on the top and a large spike on the side.  The spike would extend and plant itself into the ground and the sound man would listen to the sonar pattern.  They were trained to distinguish the sound patterns of the different mobile suits, zeon and federation, inorder to rely intel to their HQ and to their squads.  These trucks were often assigned to a mobile suit squad.

Hey dupes, just a quick comment.  When watching the series, especially the ones based around this group build's timeline, if you find yourself agreeing with the 'bad guys' it is NOT uncommon.

Wow, you guys are flying! Unfortunately, Netflix is also missing the first Gundam Movie (but of course they have #2 and #3!). Going to have to try to find some locally (or maybe Amazon?). ALSO spent quite a bit of time checking out the Gundam World Cup link provided by Smeagol - wow, there are some SUPER builds in there. Going to continue to peruse!

Definitely a great dive into Gundams.  I sense a lot of watching and a lot less building coming up for you though.  There were a few gundam kits videos in the series of Fuji TV model building tv shows on youtube uploaded by a user sleepyfish or something, all in Japanese but the videos is inspiring enough.

Alrighty...hope to have some Gundam goodness show up at the house by next weekend. Got the following on Ebay, both new:

Mobile Suit Gundam Trilogy: Anime Legends DVD

Mobile Suit Gundam : The 08th MS Team DVD

I was always a big Battletech fan (WISH someone made some decent 'mech kits), so this should be a good time! Can't wait!

i'll try to explain.

this gogg is one of first hguc, (uc = universal century) a step up the old hg, this is one of the more simply between this series , have not inner details as mg or pg (the skeleton inside like the blue MG gouf i show before) . Actually not represent the hguc  standard, it was one of first attempt to improve old hg.

all joints in this series are covered ,resulting more realistic but, as you can see lots of works needed to make it more realistic. On latest exit of this series have some kit that instead have some great more details like the giant zock of my actual avatar, acguy and some other have great enhanced posability.

the hguc zock (one of the largest hguc) with all under parts detailed visible

and the acguy too have under details, only the body is without

Pay attention that i added panel lines on both kits , as original they comes without it.

and here a confrontation with the same subject, rx-79g,  one like your hg and the other the new hguc,

even if the picture is blurry you can see that as example , the feet, the older kit resolve with 3 pieces and the

joint in soft plastic, the newest have 6 pieces and the soft joint and the toe is movable , plus the up ankle armor is movable , and in the older are moulded with the ankle.

the elbow on older have an only rotation point , the new have two point, better hands , better weapons etc

hope this usefull and not mess you Tongue Tied

To add on series to see youcan try even the 0080 pocket war; on there have some crude scenes (are not walt disney cartoons), but look at the war with the eyes of a child that as fan of mechs , see suddenly involved his city in a battle between giants, that causes even civil casualties, there  have (imho) most of beautyfull mechs never seen on a  show Crying

The UC part of HGUC is subjective now.  There putting out Gundam Seed, Gundam Wing, Gundam X, kits with tags for the universe they come from, like... HGCE, HGAC, HGAW (cosmic era, after colony, after war)

Hello all!

I have been a lurker at FSM for some time, but the Gundam One Year War group build has enticed me to join in on the fun!  As my avatar implies, I am a Zaku fan.  The old 1/100 Char's Zaku was the first MS kit I built way back in 1983.  Gundam kits sure have come a long way since then!  See here for construction details of my more recently built HGUC Zaku:

http://www.ipmshawaii.freewebsitehosting.com/build_up_neal_izumi_hguc_zaku_1_1-144scale_bandai.html

Anyhow, I would like to enter the GB with the 1/100 MG Zaku Cannon:

http://www.ipmshawaii.freewebsitehosting.com/review_neal_izumi_zaku_cannon_1-100ccale_bandai.html

I have been wanting to builld the thing since I bought it, so hopefully this will provide the impetus (translated: kick in the rear end) that I need.  I will post photos when I figure out how to work my Flickr account.  (I am new to that too.  Sorry, still living in the Dark Ages.)

I am also trying to get some of my buddies to join in, so hopefully the GB will see a few more new faces.
