Nice work on the Zaku Tetsujin looking good!

I'm afraid I'm going to have to withdraw the RX-79G from the group build.. I've hit a modeling slump right now and working really weird hours isn't helping me much eitherTongue Tied

Ok, i'm just about done here. not much left needed to do actually, mostly securing things. Lots of glare in these pics, i'll take it outside for natural light when its 100%.

Is the sword too much?

naaaa! the sword is good Yes seems like the helmet had some intresting mods , magnific work DrShrinker , waiting for outdoor pictures Cool no pictures of the diorama wip?

me too finished a plane and waiting for sun pictures but the weather don't like and put on or high wind or raining days.

smeagol, i don't use actually primer (rarely the mr surfacer) , i use light good gray as primer (enamels) and you know results. This for enamels but probably on acrylics don't work so good.

Ahhhhh, well I had already primed the turret and the barrel for it, I just had to do the body when the can ran out and I couldn't get more of the kind I liked.  It would look wierd working from  a half primed kit

Nice work on the Gelgoog Doc.

Well I'm calling Big Zam done - as done as can be for now. I may take another approach to the base and thread a wire up the left leg and mount it that way, anyhow -

heres some gouf updates, not great things, just started to glue the possible parts that don't need to be painted before gluing

the hip , backpack parts and the chest, also modified the shoulders base to llow a post gluing after te chest get finished, so i can paint he movable shoulder parts separately... mg's are a bad beast to leave movements and a good finished skeleton, also the abs plastic it's hard to sand easy and i hate to leave mouls seams Angry then about all skeleton surfaces i'll sand

the backpack cover cutted to see the air intakes visible

and finished cut with more lines added on the shield

the complex legs parts... don't remember how i resolved these pieces with the char's zaku Sad mainly the gouf skeleton have shared parts with v2 zaku family.

also glued the main parts of the foots, lots of mold seams even there.

that's all

Sorry it's taken so long - finally have a pic of the M61A5. Construction is done (although I just realized I haven't attached the muzzle brakes yet)...only took about 4 days. Probably THE best fitting kit I've ever built!

Still working on the figs - which are really cool - while I mull over what type of paint scheme I want to go with. Been looking at some Warhammer 40K sourcebooks for ideas. Want to do something a lot different from the usual armor I build. Did find one really neat buildup, but not sure if I want the angular masking tape-type finish. Check out the pics here:

Will update once I come up with something good. Any suggestions appreciated! Big Smile

Dear god that is a beautiful machine.

If Bandai started making the ugliest model kits in existance from now on you could still say that they have the BEST fit of any model maker.  Everything fits perfectly and they build it in-order to cover seams and whatnot so the details dont get damaged.

Well if you want some suggestions for coloration.  In story canon those tanks were the MBT for the EFGF up until the mass production of the GM Mobile Suit.  They were used in every theater on the earth's surface, from the deserts of Africa to the Jungles of south east asia to the plains of north america and urban areas all over the globe.  As long as you paint it in a way that makes sense from a strategic way (IE not in neon green and pink) it will look good and fit.

They also took a HORRIBLE pounding from the Zeon forces so alot of wear and damage is more then acceptable.

Sorry, no sprue shots...once I opened that box I dove right in! I can probably find some pics online if you're interested.

Good point about bullet caliber. Any idea what the actual size would be?

Still rooting around for more paint schemes. If I can find any from sources I can forward up here, I will!

I truly hope your going to stick with painting it to look like its from the Gundam universe.  So many people on these forums will take one of those hard graph kits and then re-purpose it as something other then what it is, its disappointing.

As far as Caliber types you have three choices for the time period those tanks REALLY saw action.

The Zaku I which use 105mm rounds

the Zaku II which used 120mm rounds

and the Magellan Attack Tank which had a 175mm cannon and three 35mm machine guns.

also during that time period zeon used soft skinned armor cars that were amphibious for scouting, they are quite similar to the German 222 in that it has a low profile turret with a either small yield cannon or AA gun.

edit

This is the standard paint scheme for these tanks when they were used in desert regions

You can also go with the simplified version that was seen in the anime, which was a bluish purple color all over but I dont suggest it.

All in all when this vehicle was displayed and had any kind of pronominal roll in the series they had moved past the basic anime color and the Federation tool on the colorings of a real army.  So I suggest you go to real modern tanks for inspiration of color scheme.

Ideally I can paint it in some way to fit both the Gundam universe and to satisfy my need to do something "different". My past several builds have alllll been panzer gray or modern armor sand. MUST stay away from those.

I'm colorblind - what colors am I looking at in the picture you posted, Smeagol? They seem to be pretty faded, I'm having a hard time telling them apart.

Another question - is there any reference available that would show some sample EFGF paint schemes?
