Gelgoog at good point DR , and looks good

How are the elbow joints? i have the old mg too and these joints are really ridiculous (knee too) you'll fix it in whished position?

The knees are not too bad. The arms on the other hand dont want to stay where i put them.We'll see what happens.

I cannot find the battery charger for my camera so i dont have pics at the moment. I primed the model silver to try the salt technique for chipping. It didnt really go as i had hoped. But i'll keep going on the Gelgoog and weather it a bit more than i had planned.

Chef - The Z'Gok  is looking good!  Looking forward to seeing it done.  If you want to put stencil decals all over the model, I recommend this:

This is my favorite series to use for nonsensical gibberish stencils.  I use the white a lot, but the red comes in handy too.  I'm not sure if any product improvement has happened since I first tried these out, but the grey sheet is too translucent so it should only be used on white models.  The red and white are opaque though, and can be used on any color surface.  Bandai also sells Gundam-specific decals, but they go in and out of availability a lot.  There was a 0080 sheet, but I can't find it on HLJ's site at the moment.

Dr. Shrinker - Like Bsyamato said, I also noticed the original MG Gelgoog had weak knees and elbows.  Actually, the entire model's polycap system seemed to be inadequate to the task of holding the model up.  I think the Ver 2.0 addressed this, but nothing short of real linear actuators are going to help in supporting the honking huge shield if it is mounted to the arm.  Well, so long as your Gelgoog's legs hold up you should be OK.  What color(s) are you planning for your model?

Thanks for that link G - I wasn't sure about decals at first but now that I think about it I think I will. I could do with some generic Zeon insignia too. Well I've got till May and Big Zam is pretty much done too.

I actually have been working on my Gouf. I'll put some pics up as soon as I figure out how! I'm getting close, I have to decal and weather, and then finish the weapons and I'll be all set.

It's getting a lot colder around here, and the fall shows will be wrapped up shortly...going to be time to get back into some Gundam builds. I think I may actually have my significant other (Mia) sufficiently interested to build one of her own!

Odds are it will involve pink of some sort, so I'm warning you now...

Dr make some test on the knees, mine was stand up without the giant shield and after a year (or two) he decided to sit down, fortunately the kit is just snappend and i've no pain .

I am back people!!  From China that is.  Got married and scored two RG kits, RX-78 and Char's Zaku.  Anyways, I gotta really pick up the pace on the Ground Type build.  It's still in pieces right now.  Been busy with other builds for IPMS stuff.

I think I've made just about every mistake possible on this thing so far! I'm blaming it on my 3 month old daughter and the fact that I don't sleep anymore and have to work on the thing 5 minutes at a time!

good gouf progress on gouf badlanguage despite the few work time, i think when i built it did a record for me: finished in the same day (one of few cases i used acrylics)

I thought i had started a rifle for him before i had moved and since lost it, but i was going through the instruction sheet again and it appears he doesnt come with a rifle or a shield. No biggy.

Still more to do but much further than the last post. I tried something new and didnt really get the look i was going for, but live and learn.

That Gelgoog looks so cool! Really like the paint work and the weathering on it. Mr. Gelgoog looks like he means business. 

DrShrinker - don't know what look you were going for, but the one you GOT was pretty awesome!

Out of the repulsion to keep the position the gelgoog looks really great how was the weathering process?

I tried the salt technique. (which i didnt get pics of due to dead camera) I prepped all the pieces and gave it a primer of silver. Coated the silver with a flat acrylic (im not sure if that was necessary) then gave it a heavy coat of hair spray.

After it dried, i wet down the areas i wanted chipped/weathered with water and salted those areas. I just used a paintbrush, got it wet, dipped it in salt and dabbed it to the area. Once it dries it pretty much stays where you put it.

With the salt still on the plastic i painted the parts insignia red and flat black. I didnt have any problems with the black. After the paint dried and i started to chip off the salt, if the salt was not thick enough, the silver under the salt turned pink. Thats were my plan went awry.

I used Vallejo pigments (powders) brushed into the silver to get the look it has now. I had to go pretty dark to hide the pink tones where it should have been more silver. What you cannot see are the yellows, oranges, greens that are mixed with the black in certain nooks and crannies. I'll go back and do those parts again.

I read a lot about this tecniques The result is really great but i fear about that; the main thing is to spay a good layer of hairspray ... then no risk the hairspay decadence during years? if they gone i fear all the layers on top will go out, i'm wrong to think that? As the same i never used and never search for future coat, i don't trust this non specific varnish during years will be the same as a normal enamel coat (i'm too old to change mind?)

Im not sure what you are asking... Are you asking if hairspray will decay under the paint over time? causing all the top layers of paint to fall off?  I dont really know, but i doubt it.

As for Future. I use that all the time for decals, works great. But i always put a flat coat on top of the future. /shrug

yes, i mean this for the hairspray, this tecnique is relatively new i hope you're (and other who use it) right.

What planning for the pose? need to find me too a solution for my equal gelgoog

I have a plan for a diorama for the Gelgoog,  he will probably be at ease. since the pilot will be out side of the mobile suit. More on that later. ;)

I havent painted a very small scale figure in ages and dont know where to begin, so keep putting it off.  :P
