Doug: Great looking work there! Really nice job on the exhausts. I've got one of those buried in my stash somewhere along with the newer kit (don't remember if it's Hasegawa or Tamiya) but the Nichimo looks like a nicely detailed kit in the box.

Heres a few more, have the silver on and am starting into the base coats of JA grey and begining the camo.

Ohhhhhhhh, love the mottling!!! I'd say you captured the look of the plane in the painting perfectly!

Are you going to flake off some of the topcoat to show the silver underneath?  

Thank you! That and some dry brushing... I read somewhere that most all camo on Japanese planes was "field applied" and that the quality of the paints and primers (zinc chromate and such) were of such poor quality that the finish on most planes would peel off in sheets. I've done some like that by not letting the paint set firmly and pulling off with masking tape wrapped around my fingers. Thats really not the look I like so I'm going to chip and "wear thin" in spots. more coming shortly, I'm just glad that FSM got this fixed so fast...

OK,,, Heres a few more, Up th the banding and decals... Starting the foil underside... I love thet micro sol and micro set ! Great stuff! Makes the decals look as if they were painted on.

Doug: Really nice work! Are you doing wheels up or just tacked the doors on the shut position for painting?

I need to ask a question, I cant get a badge to down load to my signature page it says more then 512 lines??? Whats that? I told you I'm kinda elementry on computer. (lol) Thanks ...Doug (RR)

Seems if you stick all the badges into a single file you can get it to work:

I just use this program to rotate the badges, seems to slip under the 512 line limit. You can put ten badges in it.

Thank you , Means alot coming from my fellow builders, For the torn twisted metal I use pieces cut and twisted as desired from aluminum serving pans or trays, its much tougher then tin foil and doesn't distort if accidently touched or bumped. Shallow out the spot to be applied to and just a spot of super glue will blend it to the existing body panels. Some try to do too much battle damage and don't realize that it takes very little to bring down an aircraft. No matter how rugged or how well designed just one or two good hits from a .50 cal, a 20mm, 37mm etc and thats all she wrote! The unfortunate rear gunner was hit directly as the .50 passed through the fusalage. Dio is about ready to mount plane too. Thanks again to all!

Lets try this again, Just got a new computer and still trying to learn its ways, so please forgive me for mistakes...

This Ki 45 Toryu flown by Nobuji Negishi has been assigned to the 3rd Chutai 53rd Sentai for the homeland defense from the relentless waves of B-29 bombers. This "Dragon Slayer" has just tangled with a Super Fort and both craft were critically if not fatally wounded. His port engine a Mitsubishi HA-102 is faltering from battle damage and the starboard engine strains to keep her aloft. The villagers below see their brave defender in trouble. They stop and say a silent prayer as he passes overhead.

WOW! Very cool dio! The port prop looks like it`s off of an E2C Hawkeye...lol. Very nice job Rigidrider. I never would`ve guessed how you made the hills on the base, thanks for sharing!

Have to agree with Bsyamato- that's just stunning work Doug!!! Love the windmilling prop, the smoke trail from the damaged engine, the shot-up rear gunner, the base, gee I love the whole she-bang!!!

Len, LOL... I was trying to reproduce a failing, sputtering engine I saw in a picture and I guess I got it about half right,LOL...When I was a kid (too many years ago) we used to do alot of paper machette(sp) and I have found that it does lend itself to our craft at times. Trick is the right ammount of flour, salt and water, and for good measure I add some white glue to help it along(speeds up the set time)

No , you did a great job as the administrator... and your Judy looked good too, I've not seen many of that one, Our bud BSY is also a building machine! I just enjoy the array of styles and ideas that go into these builds. On to the next!
