Jason: I have to ditto what Kevin already said. I too have only built their 1/48th kits. They're older models and not up to Tamigawa standards but still not bad kits at all.

I know that the rules say it must be less then 50% built, but I have too much on my plate to start this group build. To keep you all inspired, here is my take on a Ba-349 Natter, IJAAF 1946. Please excuse any faults, this is the best I can do. Fun build too, no pressure, nice and easy subject, fun trying to get decals though. Thought the ones I used were too big, then I put the boosters on and you cant see them now

Traveller: Very cool! Since they were willing to copy the Me-163 Komet I see no reason if the war had went on they wouldn't have copied the Natter. Great looking model and nice work on the stand and the dio. Thanks for sharing!

Kaysee: Sure no problem,I just finished one of Finemolds Japanese 1/35th scale tanks but ended up having the final flat coat go white and ruin the model. I'm trying to figure out some way to fix it without repainting the whole thing. I thought about doing another tank but I'm doing one for Tigerman's Battle of France GB so I decided to go with the Judy. If I get the Judy done in a decent time I might even pull out one of my monster kits.

Reasoned: Wish they'd been a little more response there but the Val is a fine choice. I've got the Hasegawa kit in my stash and am looking forward to seeing yours come together.

That's why i rarely put on a flat coat. I once gave one and it showed the edges of the decals that before had blended in well with the tank's camo. Can you believe that??

Kaysee: I'll see about getting some photos, I put on a heavy brown wash in an attempt to cover up the white and thought it looked aweful. I've been looking at some ideas on putting some dust on the tank that might cover most of it up.

Steve: Yeap, other than learn and draw inspiration from each other the only main objective is to have fun!

It's 9.00pm Sept 1 here in Oz , so I thought I would make a start on the Academy 1/72 A6M5c Zero ;

I hope I don't cause any offence but I was thinking of a quick out of the box build for the Zero , perhaps a 7 day build .

I'll clean up the cokpit tub parts and give the interior pieces a few coats of metallic green .

I pulled out the FineMolds Judy last night and looked over the parts. The cockpit panel is just a decal and the wheel wells are too shallow. Still I'm aiming on building her mostly straight from the box. Think I'll add some Eduard seatbelts but that's it.

I was searching around Hannants web site this morning looking at 1/72 scale military vehicles (Korean War and IDF) and I saw Hasegawa's Toyota Starter Truck . I remember seeing a pic of this vehicle with an aircraft in one of my old Hasegawa catalog's (1984) and I went and found this pic...

So I added the 1/72 NakajimaKi-84 Hayate (Frank) and the Starter Truck to the shopping basket .

Ok I've started the Zero

Just waiting for the few parts in Tamiya detail kit, otherwise its out of the box

Instructions suggest metallic blue for cockpit interior, wheel bays etc - all my research show modellers doing this in green/brown - I've done mine in Cockpit Green IJN - any suggestions?

GOOD GRIEF!!  I`m an hour into my Hasegawa "Emily" kit and it BAAALLLOOOWWWSSS!! There`s more flash than a lightning bolt on the parts and injector pin marks in obvious locations so must be filled. That`s only the vert and horizontal stabs...already tired of sanding...YIKES! BUT...I won`t quit...I`m done b!+chin` for now...back to work....

Helo John: Looks very cool, I love the starter truck. I've seen it before but since I generally do 1/48th I've never picked one up.

Lem: Yeah, when I opened mine I thought 'nice detail, too bad when I sand the seams I'm going to lose half of it'. And enough flash to build a second kit out of it.

NB: Japanese interior colours are a confusing mess at best. I'll say what you've got looks correct. The standard Mitsubishi Zero got a yellowish green interior that to me looks very close to US Interior Green/ Zinc Chromate Green. Nakajima aircraft got a grey-green that looks to my eye much like RAF Interior Green. Kawasaki used a tan colour on the Ki-61 and Kawanishi used another colour - whew

The metallic blue was called aotake and was actually a translucent varnish applied to stop rust. The metal showed though the varnish giving it a metallic look. Aotake started very bluish but as it aged turned more greenish. Back in the '70s it was believed that all Japanese a/c were painted aotake in the cockpits but more recent information has proved this wrong- on some older kits you may still find them telling you to paint the interior aotake though. Some cases you did see landing gear wells and the insides of flaps painted aotake, sometimes they were painted the cockpit colour- best check references to be sure. I'm not totally sure on my Judy so I'm going to go ahead and paint everything Mitsubishi interior green which ought to be pretty close.

 Great work guys! I've only got as far as washing the kit with detergent and cleaning up the clear parts and dipping them in Future. Hopefully I'll get the cockpit done this weekend.

I know regular sized lizzard innards are red when you squish `em. A giant, radioactive lizzard?...prolly a pulsating ,flourescent green.......? Haven`t squashed a giant lizzard yet, maybe you could ask Ultra Man.

Hmmmmm, when you swallowed that G-Force submarine and they drilled out their way out of you I think I remember your innards being kinda red and squishy. I hope you're not still sore. I remember you asking to do more of your own stunts and then Toho brings in that submarine with the drill on the prow- jerks...

Be careful when you dump Oscar out of his trash can- he tends to be a bit of a grouch

It'd be my first group build.

 I am finishing up an Betty, but it's too far along for the rules. Looking through my stash I found several but most are already chosen. I didn't see any one choose a Babs, but maybe loked past it.

I have an AML A6M2-K. I cant remember when I bought this but its all in a ziplock bag.

This will be my first time using resin, a vacuformed canopy, or photo-etched parts!

I'm pretty excited about trying to step my game up, anyone build this kit before or have any suggestions for me?
