Gamera

Eric: I certainly have no problems with an extension or two.

What the hey? Anyone have any objections to taking this to a one year GB???

Cool.

I like your idea of different badges for multiple builds. That will inspire people like Trey into building more.

Needbeer, Have you tried SAC bomber tan? I know that muesuems are not always correct but the zero at the usaf muesum matches model master sac tan pretty well. Give it a shot and see what you think

If you extend it out I might jump in head first. Can't promise, because life changes quickly, but again, I'll see how my first effort goes.

Big-Z: I feel for you my radioactive friend. I hate friggin' PE, just put a pile of it on a Dragon M46- somehow for every part I glue on I knock three off. Still sounds like you've got the matter in hand, looking forward for photos.

Field Marshal Manstein: Well, I was aiming toward a six-month GB ending on Feb 28. but I've had several requests for a three-month extension beyond that (May 31, 2012) with maybe a second taking the GB up to a full year (ending in Sept 1, 2012).

got the PE cockpit panels down on one side but after some battles......wow...those ribs area really delicate....they call for two bends...and on the second..most broke off...I had to remove them all cause they looked horrible...apply debonder to get all the CA then dip them in laquer thinner to strip some prepainting off....of course they were all bent so I had to straighten them out.......slow progress but looks like the worst part is over...and this is just one side...

Bsyamato: I couldn't figure it out either. I assume that yes it's a life raft or boat or something like that.

Maybe someone else here would know?

Nice updates Trey, metal differents panels looks great Yes

Needbeer can't help about the color but the zero looks really good.

a little dumb question

what's the pale yellow bag on the back of the cockpit, a safe boat? i see this in others aircraft, just curiosity.

Needbeer: I'll try to help you but I'm not sure I won't get you even more confused. I've seen the early war Zero paint scheme called light grey, light blue, or light green. I remember one guy recommending painting the fighter Floquil 'concrete'.

Recently the big fad is doing it as 'Ame-Iro' literally 'candy colour' which was a caramel colour - that is sorta amber or light yellowish tan. The J-Aircraft site claims this never existed though and have been pushing a very light faded green.

http://www.j-aircraft.com/research/amerio/out_of_ameiro.htm

Do a web search on ameiro for more information. Hopefully someone else here can help you, since I've been really confused by the whole thing and tend to stick to the later green over grey scheme. Dead

Ok sorted out my airbrush problem now i need to resolve the colour for my A6M3 I want to do the all grey (?) color for the Tainan Fighter Group (1st)

Kit recommends XF76 IJN Grey Green - I put a couple of light coats on but too green!

I've just put a coat of XF12 JN Grey over this but still too green/dark when comparing to pics & illustration on box - it has a yellow/brown tinge

any suggestions?

Thanks guys, I hope it looks worthy of the two weeks I put into it, don't think I've ever spent that much time detailing a cockpit- and the kit comes with a solid canopy so unless I work up the guts to cut it open you probably won't see that much of it Confused

Jason: Sure! I'll go ahead and put you down - what company and scale? I'm guessing 1/72nd?

thanx Gamera ,i'm really surprised from this kit, not expected so. Also the kit include the parts to do the other ki-27 variant, earlier than this, with uncovered wheels. Good for the unused pieces magazine.

the radial judy looks really nice too ...even if  till now not see ugly ww2 jap planes Confused and the finihed cockpit reaaly great Yes

Ii'm about to put the navy blue humbrol 77, is the nearest color i have to match the ki-27 ,asap put more updates ..

ps: failed!!! never put the 11 humbrol silver as first color Bang Head removed at least from cockpit walls Crying

Ok, the other two Suisei kits by FineMolds. I thought the radial engine D4Y4 was rare but picked it up a show for $25.00 bucks- I consider myself lucky on that.

Parts layout, like a dummy I forgot the sprue with the seats and cockpit parts- it's only a small one though.

The nightfighter version comes with three white metal parts for the 'Jazz Music' gun mounted at a 45% angle in the rear gunner's position. It was designed to 'park' the aircraft in the blind spot under an Allied bomber and fire up into it's belly. Oddly the kit shows the bomb being mounted in the kit but I can't see one being carried for shooting down bombers on home defense Hmm . The radial engine D4Y4 has a different sprue for the larger cowling and a much larger bomb which barely fits the bomb bay (the doors had to be left off).

Anyway my cockpit is mostly done other than a few clear pieces I'll attach later and adding a little gloss clear to the instrument faces. Lost my control stick too and used a small wire with the insulation left on the top for the grip- I still need to paint the fire button with a dab of silver.Other than that she's outta-the-box but for the Eduard pre-painted seat-belts.

White blob on the oxygen cylinders where I glued it to a sprue for painting, it will be turned toward the fuselage wall and not visible.
