Tread, the primer you seek is Krylon indoor/outdoor primer,Ruddy Brown. Hope that helps. Its like 2.99 or 3.99. Never really paid attention,I just like the tone I guess. Thanks for the comps fellas. Oh yea,Available at your local Wal-mart.

Wbill, nice set.I had the older plastic brush, but similar set. Hope it lasts you longer then me. I'm now a converted Badger brusher myself. LOL

Bill and Eric,

I've been an Aztek fan for the last decade...love them and they are the only AB I use...some have a love/hate relationship with the Aztek but I've always found them to be versatile and easy to maintain. This is now my third one but the first one I've owned that had the all-metal body. I gave it a short test drive yesterday just to make sure it worked and the heavier weight of the body vs the plastic type was the biggest difference that I will have to get used to. It's brand new (the 3 year warranty had expired on the one that died) and not a warranty replacement.

Just started Dragons 1/6 PzKw IIb and am in the process of scratch building alot of Field modifications, still not sure what era to finish it in(DAK,France1940 or Eastern Front 1942) any and all suggestions Greatly Appreiciated. Am looking to put a Turret Stowage box and need someone with experience scaling up from 1/35 to 1/6 scale to scan a set of 1/35 Panzer II stowage box to 1/6 scale.... GREG - Interior does look nice.  See a few of you using Krylon products.  The primer you used and it produced is a really good one.  For the price, size of can, and nice finish, think I may have to try some out.  Do you spray straight from the can?

WBILL - Nothing like when the UPS man shows up!  Looks like you already answered my first question: was wondering about the feel of the all metal brush.  Interested to see if there are any big differences in performance.  More so, going to be nice to see some color go on the IV.

Andy, it all depends on what you order I suppose and from where! Wink The AB is available as-is but the set and wood box are referred to as item # A7778. You get a nice bit of gear with this one that's not included in the A370 (plastic) wood-box set so I went ahead and picked it up for the extra goodies.

Rob, I don't expect there would be any performance difference...the mechanics are exactly the same, just the metal vs plastic body difference. Same tips, same trigger, etc. I will find out for sure in the next couple of days barring any more interference from Mr. Murphy that is! Propeller

Hey Joe, if you want to participate in our GB, then it would have to be in France 1940, as that is our theme.

PANZERWAFFE, I use the krylon straight from the can,its very fast drying and holds up well without overfilling details. Also use the ultra black from there camo line of paint.

Guys, super work on the armour end of this GB.  What happened to the aircraft entries?  I'm considering joining if I can finish my current one before the year is out (a March cut off date might preclude a later entry).   Would a stand alone figure count towards this group build?

regards,

Jack

I've hit the wall again. Still trying to figure out a camo. I wanted to get done before Christmas, because I have a big project in the next week or so to take care of.

I have the weekend mostly free (the leaves haven't all dropped from the tree in the front yard so I've got a reprieve of sorts there!) so expect to get some AB work done in the next couple of days.

In the meantime, I got the second track done. For your viewing enjoyment, behold the debris pile of MK sprues and pins required to produce two track runs...there's more sprue than finished item! Big Smile

Have to agree with you there Eric! This is one of the earlier sets that MK produced...I think they must have come to the same conclusion as later sets that have the separate guide horns and pins use a different sprue arrangement that involves less styrene. Still, there's always a ton of debris once the tracks are assembled no matter what! Wink

Eric - No good color pic's of the three tone camo. Once again take a look in that French site. Can not copy pictures from it to post. The most common camo schemes I found though are these.

My replacement airbrush arrived earlier in the week and I was able to get some time in yesterday in order to get this one back on track. Primer coat has been applied using Testors Model Master enamel Italian Dark Brown.

Weather has been cold, rainy, and humid, so I'm letting the primer coat cure a bit before I move on to the base coat and camo. More to come in the next few days...the new AB works flawlessly so I don't anticipate any problems keeping this one moving forward.
