Reposting from Ostfront I...

************

Here's my next build for Ostfront - Dragon's Tiger I Late Production 3-in-1.

I'm planning to build this one up in the markings of s.Pz.Abt.505 in 1944. The color scheme is dunky with dark green striping and a yellow barrel band. The kit includes markings for tank 334, but I may opt for some Archer transfers for #312, which can be seen here. Is it just me, or is the barrel just primer?

This kit is dense! Lots of sprues, excellent detail, and so far, excellent fit. Very reminiscent of the Panzer III and IV, not the Cyber-Hobby M4A4 Orange Box I'm also working on (NOT a fan of that kit).

There's been some discussion elsewhere on the forums lately about tracks...well this one comes packing some DS tracks, which I think are just fine since the Tiger has so many wheels there's not really a chance for sag. But...the detail on these DS tracks has to be the best I've ever seen on rubber bands.

Here's where it's at so far - completed step 1! Richard, you'll note that it has the same weird suspension getup as the Panther. New to me, since I'm by no means a German armor expert.

Okay...now on to the fun stuff! Aftermarket!

First, a metal barrel. I believe this is an RB barrel. I think.

Next, Cavalier zimmerit. I know Dragon's making a zimmed version of this kit now, but this isn't it. I considered the Eduard PE zimm, but I saw it on a Tiger at the show last weekend, and it was awful. The Cavalier set includes not just the ultrathin resin zimm for the hull, but replacement mantlet and hatches.

I'm in.  At midnight (no joke) I started an 1/72 Airfix Hs 129 b-3 (with the 7.5mm cannon). Worked on it until about 3am or so. I was wondering what scheme to use and this GB solved that question for me. I don't think I should chance the old Airfix decals. Here are my WIP pics so far:

I was thinking of a KV-2 but as Doogs as one in the works I thought to go with something different. Picked the Italian as I have a special interest in the Italian Campaign but so far too inexperienced here to host a GB for that front.

Richard,

Reporting for duty Sir. I will be building Italeri's Carro Armato L6/40 in service with the Regia Esercito LXVll Battaglione Bersaglieri in Russia 1942.

I'm sure I will find round 2 as inspiring and motivating as round 1 so I will probably add another kit in the future. Love the look of the KV so maybe one of those.

Will post sprue and box pics early in the week as we are going to try to get one last weekend in before the boat has to come out.

Jeff

Ok boys and girls. Year one has seen a tremendous number and quality of builds so i is only natural to have another year of eastern front fun! Join anytime during the course of the GB and everybody is welcome!Wink

SITREP:

This Group build involves anything (land, sea and air) used on the eastern front during WW2. This involves ofcourse Russia and Germany but also all the Axis and Allied parties involved during this particular conflict. Lend lease stuff would also apply.

As a host i get to make the rules so i define "eastern front" very loosly. For instance, i will allow anything the germans used in defence of the reich just as long as it has been used against the russians. Same goes for russian stuff used in the closing phase of the war.

Starting date is October 1st and end date a full year later on October 1st 2012. People enlisted and still building at that date will be allowed to finish their builds after that dateWink

RULES:

None whatsoever apart from the usual ones:

1: Everybody is welcome

2. Aftermarket, scratching.... go ahead

3. WIP's and shelved builds allowed to a reasonable degree (up to 33%?)... Crossovers are fine too

4. WIP pics are a must.

5. Having fun is most important of allWink

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

If any of you notice i forgot to mention your kit or did not mark it as finished, please PM me and i will correct the mistake

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

BADGE:

Please host it on your own photo sharing sites... Oh and i prefer people taking the badge only AFTER finishing a modelWink

With many thanks to the creator Modeler#1!Yes Awesome badge!

Someone pointed out that the badge above is very russian oriented so i made an attempt myself at something more german for you guys to choose from:
