Wow nice detail on the tank.

Thanx I am still waiting for the decals to arrive (14 days after posting!) it seems our postal service is striking AGAIN! only the 2nd time in 9 months .....pathetic!

When they strike they have the nack of destroying the post at some of the sorting stations :-(

I know the feeling. I used a new xacto blade to cut the brush guards off the sprue, then held them with tweezers while sanding away the nubs.

Nice work Stik!  It seems whenever I try and cut a brush guard off a sprue it breaks.  I may need to get some new sprue cutters.

Thanks Mac. No way for permanent shelf queen status on this one. It really does not have any real snags in the build aside from those daggone tracks. I really do wish that Dragon had done everyone a favor and invented their Magic Tracks and DS tracks for this kit like they did on the "Orange" rebox about 20 years sooner. I finished up almost all the fiddly bits yeterday and today.

The fender stowage boxes

turret top spot lamp and AA .50 Cal.

rear fender/mudguard with side flaps

glacis headlights, horn, and brushguards

and overall...

I still need to file away ejector pin marks on the spare track shoes and mount them on the turret side, add the sand shields to the fenders, and glue the hull top, rear fenders, and all crew hatches in place. But just about ready for some OD overall now.

Eatthis, I posted your completed TSR on the front page.  Nice work on that!

68GT, yes.  Lots of stencil data on the F-4.  I like the Phantom but I hate decals so I haven't built one yet.

Theuns, go ahead and finish up those decals here.

Stik, I was beginning to wonder if that one made it to a permanent shelf queen status.  Nice work as always.

I can make this an always open GB if I get enough requests.

As advertised last night, photos of progress today!

and these will be the "before" photos for areas still needing parts. On teh fenders where the stowage boxes go

where the rear fenders need to be installed

and the glacis where the headlights and brush guards need to go...

more to come...

OK, I am bringing one more build off of the sidelines for this GB. This past Saturday at AMPS Chapter, we had a "build day" where we all brought in a kit to work on, instead of having some sort of seminar on building, finishing, etc.  Well most of my current in progress or sidelined builds are pretty much in the painting stage... except this one, so I got a chance to restart it, Dragon's T26E1 Pershing. I started the build last year and had finished most of it except for the link by link tracks and some fiddly bits, when I sidelined it due to moving. And it sat sidelined until Saturday. Between then and today I finished up one side of the tracks... YAY!

So here is the completed track on one side

and here is where is stands overall with the upper hull placed onto the lower hull for this photo

Ok, so this one sat sidelined for the past six months while I knocked out other shelf queens....and then I had to move... again... Super Angry (don't ask) On my days off last week, I finally got most of the settling in chores completed, so this seek before work I finally got my bench operational. And on my days off this week (yesterday & today) I was able to get the left side tracks on. 79 links per side... two ejector pin marks per link... did I mention that I despise indy link tracks almost as much as moving...Angry I will get some pics poster tomorrow. I now need to add the fender stowage boxes, headlights, rear fenders and a few other fiddly bits. I should have it ready for paint on my days off next week...

That the thing though.  These are shelf/box queens and I've almost completed the 3rd but I have many more.  We have just lost motivation on these so they are not a high priority.  Would like something to push me along but I guess what ever happens happens.

i beleive that is the problem with shelf queens. if we don't have a deadline it's no different than usual. i think i finished 6 shelf queens with this GB and will join the next one too as i have as many new shelf queens.

Was wondering if the was a time limit set by the forum for GBs.  A Perpetual No More Excuses GB would be a good idea.  If somebody wants to take the reins I would join as I have a lot more unfinished kits.

Hi, will a 1/72 Hind E and 1/32 MiG 17 just needing decals qualify for this GB?

Both have been standing for more than 6 months awaiting spare loot to get the AM decals LOL.

tsr2 entered service and the f111 was still having major problems. vietnam was hotting up and the yanks needed 1 or the other but couldnt decide which.

the raf agreed to lend 6 tsr2 gr1s to the us for field evaluation alongside the f111 to see which worked best (or at all!)

its a tsr2 mate we (the brits) were 90% done designing and testing it the whole project was a total farce BUT the plane itself was looking like a worldbeater! until the moronic governmeant murdered the project (and the national aviation industry with it!!)

same role as an f111 but more power and probably even better than the pig :)

i just need to sort the pitot probe out then the splodey bits and its done :)

eatthis - What is this AC you're finishing up?  I recognize the other...an F-111, but this one I'm unfamiliar with.

BTW, camo on both looks great!

68GT - glad to see the F-4 coming along!
