As I said I'll go with a one/thirty-fifth Hobbyboss modern Chinese ZSL-92b IFV although I'm close to the cut-off having about 40 percent or more done.

Photo is I think a ZSL-92a - my 92b has a bigger turret with a 30mm gun.

I would very much like to join in with Academy's 1/72 M1126 Stryker ,finished in the markings for the U.S. Army , South Korea ...... (cross over build for the Korean War GB)

Hey guys those are really cool looking!

M#1: The engineering of my kit is almost the same. I went ahead and glued the two big hull parts (top and bottom) together first so I won't knock off the small details when gluing it together. Now I'm trying to put the weld beads back on that I sanded off getting everything to fit. Hopefully photos by this weekend.

Did i metion that this is my first time working with Photo etch?

It's funny I was afraid when gluing the upper and lower hull together that I'd have to use rubber bands to hold the whole thing together while it dried. But there was no warping at all and the two went together like hand and glove. Best fitting kit I've built in some time. If your kit fits this well you won't even have to worry about it.

The small bit of PE that came with the kit should give you a good introduction to it. My biggest gripe about it is you have to use superglue which I hate to use for anything. Just like everything else go slow and only use a little SG on the parts. Shouldn't be much trouble.

Nice start on your builds M#1 and Cliff , I'll make a start this morning on my hull and suspension pieces as well . WIP pic's to follow later today .

Looks like a very nice kit John, looking forward to seeing how it all works out. I picked up Trumpeter's one-thirty-fifth scale Stryker engineering vehicle when I got the ZSU-92.

Modeler#1: Very cool! Are the viewing scopes you've masked on the turret transparent parts? I couldn't see where you photographed the sprues if there were a clear sprue or not.

Anyway here's where I am:

I like thouse weld lines! and the viewing scopes are clear parts by the way.

I'm a little slow getting started , instead of cutting sprue , I started searching around the net for some resin stowage gear for my Stryker . I found some Blag Dog resin stowage for the M1126 Stryker  from Tracks n Troops and order it . So hopfully tomorrow I can start on the chassie .

Modeler#1: Oh, that Grizzy sounds like a really nice kit. I like the transparent parts for the periscopes - they look so much better than just painting solid kit parts like my IFV.

The weld lines are a little over-sized. I'm hoping they won't look too bad under paint.

John: Have been reading about your search for storage over on the Korean War GB. Good luck with the resin parts you ordered, sounds like it will add a lot of character to your Stryker. I'm a little burnt out on aftermarket, making good progress here because I'm just building the thing straight out of the box. The kit fits great and it's been the most fun I've had on a model in a while.

The detail is nice but the fit is horrendous

Modeler#1: Ouch, sorry to hear about the fit issues. Still looks like she's coming together pretty well there.

Hit a snag here, the radio antennea mount has vanished. I've looked everywhere this weekend and I have no idea where it disappeared to. So I guess I'll be scratchbuilding a replacement before I can move forward. Gee, I was hoping for a nice, simple, quick build to recharge me for more complex stuff.....

I'll take part with a Heller VAB 4x4.

Super job too, really like how the pre-shading came out. If I may nitpick the tires look a little shiny, you might could add a little dirt and mud to them. Just my two cents though, as I said really nice job there,

I'll take part with a Heller VAB 4x4.

Here's my VAB after a few days of assembly, mainly cutting off molded on details and replacing it with PE, resin and styrene. I'm using the ExtraTech PE set and resin wheels for the kit. The base kit cost $4.95 about 8 years ago, the PE and wheels were $14 and $7 respectively back then. A lot of money to upgrade a poor kit.

More in progress shots. All the PE takes a while to remove from the fret, carefully cleanup and then assemble and attach. Assembling the tool rack and individual tools is challenging. I have to create the shovel from 3-4 pieces of PE and a scrap piece of sprue.

Yes Rob, very nice, great work on the teeny-tiny PE.

I did a little work on the driver, crew, and a couple of infantry for my IFV last night. Hehe, I feel like Frankenstein - I think I've used parts from about five companies as well as the old spare parts box since there is hardly any modern Chinese military figures available.

I've made a start on my 1/72 Academy M1126 Stryker ;

Most of the parts are quite small and I needed the assistance of the head magnifier to see what I was doing , despite me already wearing glasses .

All the suspension pieces fitted nicely in place ;

And I've added the hatches and forward lights to the hull top ;

Once the glue is dry on those suspension pieces , I'll glue the top and lower hulls together , then add a few more bits and she will be ready for airbrushing .

Its a great little kit and goes together really well so far , I'm not sure what Rob is using to help him add all that tiny PE but the work is quite impressive .
