Thank you! Yes that she would be... some medics carrying wounded on litters to load up... but it would take up too much space for my display area.

LOL... I've been trying to paint and trim the house all summer long now. The house keeps interfering with model building! Yes I have always been a fan of the Monogram line of kits, I've probably built most all of them atleast twice (at the time) since childhood. Not sure yet but likely it will be an A-4 of Groupe I of JG 51 Eastern front 1944. Thanks and good luck with the roof!

It's a nice one Rigidrider!  One  is in pieces on my bench and the Monogram Hurricane is on the paint stand but they've been there all summer while I try to shingle my house.  Mine will be an A-5 after a couple of pics I found on the web.

Hey all... I'd like to join in on your GB... some day maybe I'll get in on one from the start... I think this kit will qualify, I found it at a local yard sale for about 2.50$ a year or so ago and it has been amongst the stash every since. Its a 1/48 scale Fw190 (circa 1965) Not sure what staffle to do yet, still doing some research, but it will be about 99% OOB. Thanks! Doug (RR)

Nice whirly bird. I can hear Radar calling out on the loud speaker and see Hawkeye and BJ waiting at the pad. Along with Klinger in a nice chiffon dress with a Tony Packo's coney dog. Toast

Well I am glad to hear that the Bossman here is alive and kicking.... even if it is in stealth mode.Zip it!

Today I got even closer to the finish line with my H-13. In the midday I airbrushed on a coat of Future, and this evening I applied the decals. The kit decals are much better then the last few Revell kit decals I have worked with- none shattered, not even the teeny tiny stencils that have on my last couple newer release Revells. Yay span="" id="mce_marker" data-mce-type="bookmark">

So anyways, enough yappin and on to the pics...

even the lower surface of the main rotor had some stencils...

tail boom... the little read stripes were individual decals... not too cool- my main beef is that there were not enough to space them out properly...Super Angry

cockpit bubble and fuel cells- all of the stars are on compound curved surfaces and have since been hit with Solvaset to get them to conform. The fuel tank stars have a filler cap under the upper star tips...

and a couple overall shots

There are actually still a couple red cross decals that go on the clear parts but I can't apply them until after the flat coat is on and masking removed from the litter windscreens.

It's been a productive morning on my H-13...

First off I got the fuel tanks glued on, so all assembly except for the windscreen is done. Then I went and did the touch ups on all the OD areas needing that. Afterwards I masked off the litter shelves windscreen frames and painted those OD and the litters Olive green canvas with OD handles. Finally I did all the appropriate dry brushing on the pilot and got him assembled. I am very happy with how he looks so I think I will use him...

I also dipped the canopy windscreen in Future. I placed it on for these pics, but will not glue it on until after the gloss coat, decals, and final flat coat...

I like your varying colors on the interior of the Airacobra Big Dog, very realistic touch.Yes

Today I was able to get the cockpit bubble washed and drybrushed, then glued onto the fuselage framework finally.

I also got the first wash put on the pilot figure, even though I do not know if I am gonna use him of not...

So all that is left to attach to the airframe are the fuel tanks, then I will touch up the OD, apply a gloss coat then decals, and finish her up.

The P-39 interior has been painted and assembled. I may try and go ahead with closing up the fuselage today. Some WIP pics.

I am painting the interior bits on this one from an unrestored example in a Finnish Air Museum, that version is a P-39Q while mine is going to be a P-400 but I just couldn't find any really good pics of P-400s to work from. The plane I am using as a reference has Zinc Chromate Yellow, Medium Green or a ZC Green that looks Medium Green, with some odd and end bits Dark Dull Green or Bronze Green here and there.

Pasted a while back that my next two will be an AD-6 and F-82G in 1/72 but I can't find that post.  Here are some progress pictures of the Skyraider and I also started the F-82 by painting the crew.

Looking good there Stik

The P-40 is finally to the paint stages. The bottom gray was painted last night and I am hopping things are dry enough to mask and get the earth color on the topside this weekend, although with dew points in the 70s that is kinda questionable.

The P-39 is almost ready fro the washes and highlights n the interior. I decided to hold off on assembling the cockpit/gun bay so that I could wash and highlight all the interior parts at one time for a unified look. I should have this knocked out tomorrow for some update shots.

Big Dog, after looking at pics of Huns from that squadron/time, they do not look to have the more pronounced discoloration that is seen on some Huns, but rather a lighter more subtle scorching.

As you can see they are more lightly heat discolored, so I am gonna look for the Tamiya metal weathering set tomorrow while at the LHS and try that stuff to get that effect for discoloration as one of my final weathering steps.

As far as my inspiration, a few years back I stopped by the Patton Museum out in the California Desert located between Indio and Desert Center right next to Interstate 10. Indoors on display they had several items of old Army field gear such as rangefinders and other items that were in a brownish OD shade like what is on my H-13. I have seen a few other items here and there were in a similar shade and I just really liked the look of it. When I was in 5th ID in the mid 80s we also had an OD half track that was used for ceremonies at division level. I still remember the generals going down the line to inspect the troops in that thing while the division band played the Patton theme... Of course these dog & pony shows were usually in the late summer in the heat of the day before Hot Weather BDUs and Jungle Fatigues were not allowed...Indifferent

Hey stik the Hun is looking good. A question for ya are you going to try to do the multi-colored striped burned metal to it or leave it the Titanium color, Real curious because you are already doing the decals.

I had asked about the paint on the H-13 and you replied with what you were using and that you had something you were trying to replicate. This last bit has me wondering what your inspiration was. That color of OD just screams "HALF-TRACK" to me. I think all of them I have ever seen were in that sorta khaki shade of OD. We had a nice one that the Colonel drove at ceremonies and such in the unit I was in in Germany. The mechanics had done hot-rodded it and that thing was bad to the bone. One night some guys from the other Infantry unit on post stole it and took it for a cruise. That was a hoot with the MP's and Polizei chasing them all over. Kinda hard to pull over a half-track that can haul you know what!

@ Trouble. The panther is looking good. Hopefully all the decals behave after a little talkin' to. That is another one of the Monogram kits that I remember building as a kid and want to tackle now. I seem to recall that one giving me fits, I know I didn't have the right paint exactly and wound up painting it some metallic blue color.

MKelley

The Hun is definately a "Pretty Penny". Great job Bow Down

Did somebody say Pretty Penny? Here's a better shot of her...

Well today I finished up applying the stencils. Half the pics I took ended up being out of focus, but here are a couple that did come out well.

and of course I continued work on my H-13 as well. I applied the instrument dials decal to the IP... but the pic of that did not come out...Super Angry  But you can see the decaled IP in the background of a couple of these pics... and I also glued on the radiator and tail rotor shaft. I just need to go back and do touch ups of OD where the glue shows over the paint... a bit more painting then I can begin final assembly work
